There aren't many online survival games that are quite as difficult as Facepunch Studios' Rust. Given that it's a multiplayer PvE title that takes hours to get into, Rust is somewhat unforgiving, with its harsh environments, deadly wild animals, defensive NPCs, and a slew of human players that are out for blood. However, many fans would agree that it's still a fun game, and the developer is making sure to keep it updated with new content on a regular basis. One such update includes the weekly selection of skins, and the latest of these being announced recently.

In a post on the official Twitter account, an additional eight new skins have been included in Rust, with details posted to the game's Steam page. While the number of skins can vary, in this instance, there are eight, which include a camouflage net for the rug item, a reinforced furnace, a puzzle design for the sheet metal door, and a redesign of the military gloves, as well as others. Each of these items costs up to a couple of dollars and can be purchased from the official Steam page or through the permanent in-game store which the developer added recently.

These skins are obviously just cosmetic and optional, but it's a continuation of Facepunch Studios keeping the game ticking over with new content. Recently, there have been a number of updates to Rust, such as one which fleshes out the open world title with player quests, the obligatory Halloween patch, as well as the latest military update, which brings heavy artillery to the world, as if it wasn't difficult enough to survive as it is.

Those who are already familiar with the game know how difficult it can be to make any significant progress, especially as players begin a new world with barely anything to-hand. Newcomers often benefit from a beginner's guide to Rust, though some may prefer to slog it out on their own and work things out independently. Whatever way players choose to confront their first few times, that first time it turns to night, or that first encounter with a wild beast or a player with greater skill, can make or break people who are inexperienced in surviving the harsh terrain.

As difficult as it may be, Rust is one of the best online open world games out there. The fact that Facepunch are continuing to put out significant updates and bug fixes, as well as weekly cosmetics, is a testament to how popular it is. And it does get a little easier as time progresses.

Rust is available now on PC, macOS, PS4, and Xbox One.
