Season 1 of Netflix's Wednesday is a fun spin-off of The Addams Family and the show looks amazing, thanks to Tim Burton producing the series and also directing four episodes. Jenna Ortega is amazing in the main role and Catherine-Zeta Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Isaac Ordonez do great jobs portraying Morticia, Gomez and Pugsley Addams.

While the show has gotten some good reviews, audiences were also hoping for a bit more of the Addams Family that they have been entertained by for several decades now. With talk of Wednesday fans wishing that there will be a second season, it's the perfect moment to wonder if the show should get more episodes. There are a few changes that would make this a great idea.

The famous Addams Family character goes through a lot in season 1 of the Netflix series. She becomes a loyal friend to one of the best characters on Wednesday, her roommate Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers), or at least as loyal as it's possible for this dark teenager to be. She feels something for Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan) and then realizes that he's the monster who has been killing people and freaking everyone out. She writes a novel, spends time with Thing, and even finds a bit of school spirit, which makes sense since competing and winning has always been in her blood. But since Wednesday shows using IP can be a crutch and doesn't include enough of the Addams Family, it's easy to argue that the show needs a second season only if there can be more of what fans know and love.

Miles Millar, Wednesday's co-showrunner, told TV Line, "The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important.” If there are more episodes, the showrunners “definitely want to feature the family as we did this season in a couple of episodes if we were to get a second season.”

There are a lot of things to love about the show, which is why adding more Addams Family in a potential second season would please fans. Wednesday has funny quotes as the character can't hold back her thoughts on any situation. She even insults people who drink black drip coffee, which is one of season 1's stand-out lines. But in order for these positive aspects to seem even better, it's necessary to include more reasons for fans of the Addams Family to tune in.

Jenna Ortega definitely plays one of the best versions of Wednesday and it's cool seeing her work toward figuring out a mystery that is haunting everyone who attends or works at Nevermore Academy. But if there is a season 2 of the show, it can't only be about this character. It's great news that Morticia, Gomez and Pugsley would come back, but it would be great to see them in their element, which is darker than their season 1 episodes. It makes sense that since Wednesday is going to Nevermore Academy, her parents and brother would come visit. But seeing these characters being polite, friendly and smiling a lot isn't what fans are really looking for.

Instead, a season 2 episode should focus on winter break and see Wednesday visiting her family back at home. This would give the show the opportunity to include parts of Addams Family history that everyone loves. Wednesday could tease Pugsley in her over-the-top, often violent way. A Christmas storyline would also let Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) come back, along with classic characters like Cousin It. It's more enjoyable to see the characters at home doing what they love, which is always darker than how other families choose to celebrate.

Gomez, Morticia and Pugsley in Wednesday

Like the underrated Peacock mystery series The Resort, season 1 of Wednesday does have an entertaining hook. It feels new to see the character solving something instead of just hurting her brother or hanging back from society. But since the season 1 finale features Wednesday getting a creepy text message letting her know that she's being watched, that suggests that season 2 will follow another mystery. That's a good idea, but a second season would need to include more Addams Family storylines in order to truly win over fans.

Morticia and Gomez are a great couple because they are always all over each other, which is in sharp contrast to the darkness of their family. While fans do get to see them on the Netflix show, a second season should include them in more than just a few scenes. If season 2 of Wednesday can include more nostalgic for fans of The Addams Family franchise, then Netflix should definitely bring it back.
