The Resident Evil 4Remake brought the spotlight back toward Capcom's popular horror franchise in arguably much greater fashion than the 7th and 8th installments. Now, all eyes are now turned toward what is next in store. While there are a variety of requests for Resident Evil Code Veronica to be addressed next, especially with Capcom's recent survey, all of what fans have seen so far has hinted at Resident Evil 5 receiving a reimagining.

Given the post-credits sequence of the Resident Evil 4 Remake's ending, showcasing Wesker and his motives along with references to Excella Gionne, fans should prepare themselves to dive into Kijuju for an improved and overhauled survival horror co-op journey once again.

5 More/Better Commands

Based on the adjustments that were made to Resident Evil 4 with the player's commands to Ashley, the same could be applied on this occasion. Despite the commands themselves being maintained off the back of the original title, adhering to Ashley either sticking close to Leon or keeping distance, the behavior of the AI is leaps and bounds ahead of the previous experience.

This would likely be mostly important for single-player preferred playthroughs with players fighting alongside the CPU. Even so, new commands could be incredibly beneficial for a Resident Evil 5 remake, adding toward the level of accessibility particularly for those who don't have access to microphones during games. A greater number of commands could overhaul both the online co-op experience allowing players to give each other more specific commands without voice communication. They could also improve actions within the CPU, which was incredibly flawed in the original Resident Evil 5.

4 Quick Chat For PC

Tunnels

As mentioned before, adhering to all player types in the aspect of online co-op play is crucial for successful accessibility. Specifically for casual players with the preference for no microphones, on PC as it cannot function on console, Capcom implementing a quick chat feature that is present within multiplayer titles such as Call of Duty is key.

It is a risk to use for gameplay purposes, especially given the level of intensity of the likes of Resident Evil 5. Attempting to use the quick chat in the midst of combat could be the difference between surviving or dying. However, knowing that this feature is present will help in moments of downtime.

3 New Endgame Modes

Part of Resident Evil 5's charm during the time of its release was the replayability it offered. With its extra modes such as Mercenaries, Versus, and story DLCs with Lost In Nightmares and Desperate Escape, players could keep coming back to it. Not only did this keep players sticking around after completion of the main campaign to replay missions on a harder difficulty along with new character skins, but it also gave a greater incentive to attempt trophy unlocks with the extra modes.

If the modes currently already present in Resident Evil 5 can be remade along with brand-new content whether within the realm of story DLC or modes similar to Mercenaries, it will open the door for more time and enjoyment during co-op.

2 Larger Mercenaries Roster

Rebecca Chambers

Considering the disappointment of Capcom's decision to not include co-op or online play in the Resident Evil 4 Remake Mercenaries mode and the small roster of characters, many fans hope that a Resident Evil 5 remake can double down on what the original title provided. With Albert Wesker, Chris Redfield, Sheva Alomar, Rebecca Chambers, and more, Resident Evil 5 (more notably its Gold Edition,) managed to provide the best Mercenaries experience in the franchise.

In the discussion of a remake, the opportunity to further add to the roster by including characters such as the beloved Leon S. Kennedy, Luis Sera, Ada Wong, and Krauser, would undoubtedly give Resident Evil fans the most complete Mercenaries in all the RE entries. Given most fans' hope for a focus on replayability, this would be the best approach for a Resident Evil 5 remake. It would likely lead to a higher player count than ever before, especially in the realm of online play.

1 Removal Of QTEs

Jill Valentine

Following in the same footsteps of the Resident Evil 4 Remake, it would be satisfying to see Capcom do a complete removal of quick-time events during downtime moments in Resident Evil 5. This will not only help improve the cinematic experience, but will also benefit the flow of gameplay. It will keep intense moments during combat strictly in its region, and avoid any miscommunication or mistakes between players during cutscenes.

Quick-time events are not favored by fans here, especially after the positive reception of the Resident Evil 4 Remake making extremely limited use of them. Resident Evil 5 should only maintain this feature in the midst of combat. Players will need to dodge certain enemy attacks, shrug off enemies, and execute certain actions that are not mapped to basic controls during normal movement/ This would be the perfect way of execution, especially for online co-op.
