This past week Microsoft announced that it was dutifully tracking its Xbox Game Studios teams to see if the COVID-19 pandemic was affecting game development. It appears that inXile Entertainment is one team affected, as inXile confirmed recently that Wasteland 3, its RPG published through Deep Silver, is unfortunately delayed.

Wasteland 3 was previously planned for a May 19 release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It's now scheduled to launch on August 28, giving inXile an additional 3 months to work through the issues that working from home might have caused. The additional precaution will give inXile all the time it needs to ensure Wasteland 3 is exactly the game it wants to deliver to fans.

In a letter from inXile Entertainment studio head Brian Fargo to fans, he says the extra time will be put into "acting on Beta feedback and suggestions, optimization, polishing and refinements, and making sure we have an awesome co-op experience." He goes on to say that he and the team are "pouring our hearts into this game." As such, anything less than a "product we truly believe in" would be unacceptable.

Wasteland 3 isn't the only game at Microsoft Game Studios that's been delayed in part due to the novel coronavirus. Just recently, Minecraft Dungeons' release date was confirmed to be in late May. It was previously planned for an April launch, but took the extra time to be precautionary due to the studio largely working from home. If there's a silver lining to the delays, it's that Microsoft is ensuring its studios and their employees are fully taken care of.

Wasteland 3 releases August 28 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
