Revealed during October’s Call of Duty: NEXT event, Urzikstan is the new Battle Royale map coming to Warzone. According to early-access testers, this fresh Drop Zone could be the long-awaited redemption, reviving the short-lived fun of the original map, Verdansk.
Although developers have remained secretive about this update’s exact date, they have announced that Urzikstan will hit Warzone closely after Modern Warfare’s global launch on November 10.

When Will Warzone’s New Map Be Released? (Urzikstan Release Time)
As a part of the seasonal restart in Warzone, the new Warzone map Urzikstan will be released on December 6. Players will be able to download the free update at 9 AM PT along with the release of Modern Warfare 3’s Season 1.

How Does Urzikstan Differ from Previous Maps?
The new map in Warzone has a Soviet-esque design and benefits from movement-enabling features. Some examples are horizontal zip lines, accessible vehicles, and denser city structures offering faster navigation.
In this new Drop Zone, players can control the train, access an underground secret area, and fight in classic 1v1 Gulag matches without juggernauts.
Here’s a list of all other changes:
- Contracts are easier to locate. A brand-new item called Laptop will help Warzone players locate these bonds.
- Circle-pacing is faster. Urzikstan’s density allows for more dynamic gas circles, adding to the overall action.
- Gulag will have ascenders and Public Events. Instead of flag capture, a zipline will drop in the middle, allowing one player to leave the room. There will also be events such as Cash Grab that reward Gulag survivors with extra money.
- Urzikstan is in the Plunder Mode, too. However, players will also be able to play in Vondel and Ashika Island in the Battle Royale and Resurgence Modes.
What Are the New Points of Interest in the Urzikstan Map?
Boasting 11 POIs, Warzone’s new map, Urzikstan, is one of the largest. The Drop Zone features Zaravan City, Sorokin Industries, Popov Power, Shahin Manor, Low Town, Old Town, Orlov Military Base, Quadri Shopping Center, and Urzikstan Cargo.
Some of these Points of Interest have appeared in previous CoD games—namely the Orlov Military Base, which is the Countdown map from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
