With the release of Season 3Warzone saw a change in its map. After the Destruction of Verdansk event at the end of Season 2, players were introduced to the city in 1984. Locations were changed significantly or were removed from the map entirely. With this in mind, players will need to learn the map again.

Besides changes to the map, there are also weapon changes and things that can be spotted outside the map. Having Verdansk go back to 1984 is refreshing, while also letting players battle through a familiar location. The changes that Season 3 brought makes it seem as though Warzone really does have a new map.

10 Duga Array Added To The Map

The Duga Array that appears above Broadcast

The Duga Array was added right above where Broadcast is and gives players a good location to snipe from. It also has levels, allowing players to climb to the top or stay in the middle. Without any scope glare, it would be hard for players to see where they are being sniped from.

The array takes inspiration from the campaign mission Ashes to Ashes. It can also be seen from many areas of the map, making it a good landmark for teams.

9 Factory Added Near Superstore

Players dropping in to the new factory

To the side of Superstore is a new location called Factory. Before it was a car dealership and another building. In this version of the map, this area becomes a plane factory where players can hide between planes being built and the parts they move around the area.

There are four different warehouses for players to loot as well. This area sees a lot of people come to it, so it is worth having a squad and protective perks as well. The factory provides an area for players to get items and then head to their next location as well.

8 The Airport Is Not Destroyed

The airport of Verdansk takes on a new look, this time not being destroyed. Players can find out the airport was regional in the 1980s, providing smaller planes to be used as cover. The actual terminal also has skylights that can be used to ambush enemy teams or the straggler running by.

The air control tower stays the same basically, just having technology from the 1980s in there. Besides the technology, the control tower is no longer on fire and provides a 360-degree view of the area for snipers as well.

7 Church Added In Farmlands

The giant church of farmlands

Players might notice a familiar sight if they drop into the farmlands area of the map. There is now a church as well as vegetable markets, a gas station, and a few other buildings. This is a recreation of the map Standoff from Black Ops II. For the few that remember this map, they will have a slight advantage.

There are numerous areas for players to set up and ambush anyone who might come by. The church is open also, providing an area to explore and gather their loot before they move on.

6 The Quarry Becomes The Salt Mines

The entrance to the salt mine area

Before it became a Quarry, the northeastern part of the map was a Salt Mine. It should be noted the blog post for this area says that the Salt Mines are currently closed, meaning they will be opened up as the seasons progress. Players will find themselves running through the red water of the area as they attack and defend from other teams.

While players might be familiar with the area, it does change a bit to become the Salt Mines. There are still the hillsides, so players can shoot down at their enemies and also set up a sniping area.

5 Stadium Under Construction In 1984

Operators as they fly in to the construction area of the stadium

Players learned a lot about stadium, from the outside area to the inside when the roof was blown open. The inside was a good place to loot and the outside provided cover as players went for higher ground. It would seem the area was still under construction as it appears in the new Warzone map.

Players can fight through the construction of the soon-to-be new stadium. There is a crane in the middle of the field, allowing players to drop on it and have the advantage over enemies on the field. There is also an announcer's booth and a scoreboard, giving players the high ground over their enemies.

4 Dam Replaced By Summit

A view of Summit where the Dam was

Dam was constructed after 1984, as Summit takes the place of it. Summit is a fan favorite map from Black Ops, taking similar looks and also adding a gondola for players to ride to the top of the area. There is also a large bridge in front of Summit, providing an area to snipe from, but also an area to defend from snipers.

There are also helicopter pads, giving anyone quick enough to drop here a ride for the rest of the game. The middle building can also be accessed through the use of gondolas, or any pilot who can navigate in. This building provides a good defense until the gas starts moving in.

3 Apartments Near Construction

Players fighting in the apartments as they are constructed

Underneath the Construction area of the map, players will notice not all of the apartment buildings have been finished. This adds scaffolding on the outside and opens the apartments up a bit. This can change the game dramatically, as someone can't just camp in one of the rooms on the top floor.

This can also cause someone to use the top floor as a place to snipe in the openness. If someone isn't expecting it, they could be shot as they run across the fields when the gas closes in. This makes it so people in the street of the promenade are not safe as well.

2 Gulag Gets A New Look

A player fighting another in the gulag

Inside of the Gulag, players are pelted with rocks and then killed by their enemy. With the new Warzone map, the Gulag also got an updated look. Instead of being a mirror image or Nuketown, the Gulag is now a building and also has a tank outside for players to hide behind.

This makes it so it really is up to who sees who first. If the time runs out, a flag will spawn in the middle near the tank. Someone can go to the second floor of the building, but a person near the tank will have the advantage. Just be careful as they rush to capture it.

1 Weapon Drops Feature Cold War Weapons Only

A player looking at a weapon's chest

To keep with the aesthetic of the 1980s, the weapons players can find match the timeframe. The weapons on the ground are AK-47s and the FFAR as it appears in Cold War Black Ops. This is true when opening chests as well, as the weapons will be from the 1980s only.

A few classics, such as the Uzi, appears with an updated skin from the 1980s. Players can even pick up the PPsH off the ground, a classic from the World War II Call of Duty games. Of course with load-outs, the Modern Warfare weapons can make an appearance.
