Warzone 2.0 brings some awesome new combat mechanics to the Battle Royale genre with both close-quarters combat and ranged fire equally crucial. Unlike its predecessor, obtaining a loadout is now much harder. Players really have to go out of their way to try and get their own custom weapons.
At close range, there are only a handful of weapons that seem to be viable, especially at the higher levels of play. This list will help all levels of players find their favorite close-range weapon with some awesome and accessible options to hand. However, if players don't have access to the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, it can be slightly harder to level these weapons, as they have to find and use them during a match of Warzone.
5 Hurricane – SMG
The Hurricane is the SMG variant of the M4 and gives users the opportunity to fight in slightly longer engagement ranges due to the extremely low recoil. In the real world, this weapon benefits from low recoil due to its top-loading magazine similar to the one seen on the P90 SMG. As this SMG is a part of the M4 progression tree, even new players should have lots of attachments available once this weapon is unlocked. The M4 is the first weapon that most players will lay their hands on, making it easy to progress onto the Hurricane.
With a few attachments and weapon tuning, players can turn this weapon into a deadly laser with fast handling. However, as the player progresses through more weapons, it will quickly become apparent that other weapons may be better in this category.
4 Fennec 45 – SMG
The Fennec has quickly become most players' first choice for a close-range weapon. This is due to its extremely high damage output courtesy of the rapid rate of fire. Unfortunately, this does come with some limitations. With such a fast rate of fire, players may find they have to reload often, making it easy for skilled enemies to time their push and catch them on the back foot. This can be countered with an extended magazine, but players still may suffer from this factor.
The high rate of fire also gives the Fennec lots of recoil, limiting its engagement range. After a little time with this weapon, players will realize they need to be within a few feet of their enemy to fully benefit from this weapon's unique capabilities.
3 Kastov-74U
The Kastov-74U is the only assault rifle on this list. Its high handling and fast rate of fire really make it stand out from other ARs available. Because of this, it tends to handle more like an SMG making it deadly at close range. Players can find it as ground loot in Warzone, and it is very effective at eliminating enemies. With some extra customization, this AR really starts to stand out from the options previously listed.
Its large ammunition really packs a punch and increases the damage range further from what's originally anticipated. With a foregrip and compensator, players can reduce the recoil, making it somewhat competitive at medium range as well. This gives the player the versatility to bring a Sniper to engage in extremely long ranges.
2 Lachmann Sub (MP5) – SMG
The Lachmann Sub is extremely recognizable as it takes the form of the MP5 SMG from the previous Warzone and other first-person shooter titles. This version of the MP5 performs extremely well in Warzone as a jack of all trades: low recoil, high damage, large magazine, etc.
Like the 74-U, the Lachmann can be found throughout Al Mazrah as ground loot. With customization and extra attachments, players can really create a deadly weapon at close range. With a short stick and laser, the handling on this SMG is excellent, and the user will get the drop on unsuspecting enemies. With a 50-round magazine, players can take on multiple enemies at once, making it extremely effective in the Duos, Trios, and Squads game modes.
1 P890 – Sidearm
As the only Sidearm on this list, players may be surprised to see the P890 taking the top spot. Typically, sidearms are not the go-to choice for engagements in Warzone. However, with some customization, this pistol really is the best option at close range. If players can get this weapon to the max rank, they will unlock the "dual-wield" grip, which allows them to use two of these sidearms at once. This effectively doubles their damage output. With this, and some other attachments such as armor-piercing rounds, and a suppressor, players will easily out-damage every other player in the match at close range.
This can get some getting used to, as the player has to use both triggers to shoot the pistols simultaneously. Pairing this with consistent aiming will be tricky at first, as it completely rewrites the muscle memory of normal weapons. But with some practice, the user can become especially deadly with the P890 in their loadout. Some players are opting to use the X13 Auto in the dual wield mode as players don't have to tap the trigger for each bullet, but this is actually a much less accurate option when compared to the P890.
