Professions allow players to interact with objects in the world of Wartales that require a specialist's touch, whether it be studying an ancient rune, playing a lute, fishing, or picking the locks off of chests. Certain camp buildings also grant benefits if they are manned by a character who knows what they're doing, so it's always a good idea to have an expert ready to provide their bespoke services to or on behalf of the warband.
Learning professions is simple enough, but it can be a little confusing at first. Knowing which one to get for each of the player's party members is important since it'll let them interact with most of the things in Wartales (including some important quest objectives) on top of earning stat bumps that can help min-max a build.
All Professions In Wartales
The job that each profession does is self-explanatory, but the extra stats they give and the places where players can actually get them need a bit of clarity. Here's a list of all available professions, including their sources and other bonuses, in the launch version of Wartales:

Take note that there are multiple possible places where a character can learn a profession. Scholar and Miner, for example, can also be learned inside ruins. Players don't need to visit a school or a mentor to gain a profession—characters can learn them on the spot regardless of their class.
There are five ranks for every profession, and each one grants more passive stat bonuses and extra perks, such as additional crafting recipes and the ability to create higher-tier gear. A character will gain Profession XP every time they perform a relevant action such as cutting wood, picking open locks, or studying curious items.
How To Change Character Professions In Wartales
Players can freely swap the professions of their party members by opening their character windows and clicking on the Profession icon to the right of their name. This does not cost any Krowns or Influence, but it will reset the XP of that character's professions, which means they'll have to start over at the beginning.
This is especially useful when first building up a party since recruits who appear inside taverns usually come with predisposed class and profession combos. Avoid having too many of the same professionals in the party to avoid redundancies.
