The Upperway is an area that players will encounter as they explore Rykad Minoris in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, and it serves as an access point to a warehouse within which a ritual is taking place. After breaking up this ritual, fans may discover that there is a locked safe in the north wall, and it is opened by solving a puzzle that centers around awakening a machine spirit with Motive Force. This guide details exactly how that is done, and it will help Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader players collect the items that are inside the safe.

To note, players should take care not to walk through steam or onto traps when they are working to solve the Motive Force puzzle. In fact, fans of Warhammer 40k games may want to take a moment to deactivate those hazards before putting much effort toward opening the Upperway locked safe. Fortunately, this is quite an easy thing to do, as traps are highlighted in red when players approach them, and the valves that are used to shut off steam are situated directly next to their associated hazards.

Warhammer 40,000: Upperway Locked Safe Puzzle Solution

After interacting with the locked safe, Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader players should follow these steps to solve the Upperway Motive Force puzzle:

  1. Power the cogitator that is just to the left of the safe.
  2. Close the relay in the southwest corner of the room.
  3. Unlatch the damper near the middle of the room.
  4. Distribute supply of motive force in the southeast corner of the room.
  5. Close the relay in the northeast corner of the room.
  6. Unlock the safe at the terminal that is next to it.

It is now possible for players to open the safe and claim their rewards: a Stubcarbine and Handflamer. While fans who have been thorough in looting containers and corpses during their time in the Upperway may not have much use for these weapons, they can always be sent to cargo and sold to Warhammer 40k's faction merchants for reputation.

One final thing to mention is that it is possible to reset the Upperway Motive Force puzzle if the player wants to start from scratch. To do this, CRPG fans should simply reset supply of the Motive Force near the center of the room. While players who follow the steps detailed in this guide should not need to perform a reset, this option is noted here for the sake of completeness.
