Diamantine is one of the two main crafting components in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. Modifying weapons and Curios requires varying amounts of Diamantine, and players are going to need tons of these if they want to fully optimize their gear.

There's a wide variety of ranged weapons in Warhammer 40,000 Darktide, and some are better suited to certain classes.

The hunt for crafting resources in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide can be tedious, and there's no real way to target farm either Plasteel or Diamantine effectively. Maintaining a healthy stockpile of either of these resources isn't too hard, but only if players are mindful of some of the best practices when it comes to picking up and spending materials they collect.

How to Get Diamantine in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

A cache of Diamantine in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

The only way to get Diamantine is to load up into a mission and scour the map for it. Stashes of Diamantine can be found almost everywhere, from the main path between objectives to the quiet rooms surrounding each arena. Diamantine caches appear in cubes with glowing blue centers.

Ironic as it may seem, the best way to farm Diamantine is to stick to the main mission path. Players shouldn't go out of their way to explore every room for this. Not only does it waste time, but it also increases the risk of mission failure, especially in a team full of random teammates with little communication or interest in material hunting.

Diamantine comes in small and large caches, just like Plasteel. Higher difficulties seem to have increased spawn rates of the larger caches, ultimately resulting in higher quantities of resources per run. As much as possible, players should be playing on the highest difficulty they're comfortable with. Failing a mission yields no resources, wasting the entire run.

For better or worse, Diamantine is not used as much in crafting as Plasteel. This means players will usually find themselves with an overabundance of Diamantine once they start earning a surplus from their runs. This puts a higher emphasis on finding Plasteel, as crafting high-level equipment uses more of this resource.

Weapons and Curios with lower ratings cost less to modify at Hadron's station on the Mourningstar. Players who already have a level 30 character can farm either Malice or Heresy difficulties so they can get materials for their lower-level characters. Malice is more beginner-friendly than Heresy, but it's difficult enough to keep players on their toes.

To further save on Plasteel and Diamantine expenses, players should use the Earn Blessing feature from Hadron to collect Blessings from other weapons. This removes the need to fully-Consecrate gear, cutting down crafting costs significantly.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
