Those who are familiar with the style of game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is know that it all comes down to gear and cosmetics. Taking out hordes of enemies and single bosses on the toughest difficulties will stretch the abilities of even the most talented gamer, so equipping weapons and armor that won't hold the player back is important.
Looking great leads to feeling great which leads to playing great. Playing through the entire game in criminal's rags is doable, but it won't inspire anybody. So changing the look of the fighter in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is given as much, and possibly more, focus from the community than simple gear upgrades.
Equipping Gear & Cosmetics
- Pause Menu > Operative > Loadout/Cosmetics
There are very few steps required to find the loadout and cosmetic tabs. Players with planning skills can reliably unlock or purchase items after each mission. It's never unwise to at least see if any upgrades can be equipped before queuing up for the next excursion.
Even the worst operatives deserve to look good. Note the 'Stances' button in the lower-righthand side of the 'Cosmetics' menu. Gamers that want to be looking good after the victory screen will want to check if they've unlocked any poses that could go here.
Acquiring Gear & Cosmetics
Of course, if gamers want to equip gear, they need to have some first. Better gear can be purchased with in-game currency at the Armoury Exchange at trust level two. At trust level eleventh, players who have earned enough Aquilas or purchased them can find the best gear at Sire Melk's Requisitorium.
Cosmetics are largely tied to Penance. Complete these achievements to unlock pieces. The pieces are both flashy looking and a way to brag; nothing screams "headshot champion" quite like a headpiece that can only be unlocked by scoring droves of headshots.
