There's more to Warhammer 40,000: Darktide than just blasting the forces of Chaos. Every excursion into Tertium is a bonafide mission fitting an elite strike team of Inquisitor Grendyl's warband, which means players are going to have to complete varying objectives every time they load into a match.

The Ogryn is the main frontliner in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, capable of handling any situation with the right talents.

The missions in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide are fairly straightforward, and they offer a sprinkle of diversity between runs as well in terms of the things players need to do once their boots are on the ground. Here's the complete list of mission types in the game as of Patch 13.

All Mission Types in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

The Mission Terminal in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

There are seven mission types in total spread across 16 maps as of writing. Many of these maps, especially those that occur in the same region, tend to overlap one another. Major objectives happen in bespoke rooms, however, and when these rooms are reused, they mostly serve as connectors to other areas. The full map and mission list is as follows:

Keeping track of missions is highly recommended as it is tied to several mission-related Penances for each of the four classes. Completing these Penances is required to unlock free class-specific cosmetics (mostly helmets). They go by different names per class, but the objective remains the same:

  • Vantage Point (Veteran)
  • Praise the God-Emperor! (Zealot)
  • Touch the Void (Psyker)
  • Beat-em-Up (Ogryn)

These Penances are tiered according to the game's difficulty levels, with the first achievement tier requiring players to beat each mission on either Sedition or Uprising. Players will need to complete one mission of each type 14 additional times: seven on Malice and another seven on Heresy difficulty. Completing these Penances counts toward a broader class-specific Penance that unlocks a purple-grade cosmetic helmet.

As of Patch 13, there is no way to track which missions players complete in-game apart from a counter that tells how many unique missions types have already been completed. With this in mind, completing Hab Dreyko and Power Matrix first is highly recommended. These maps are the only missions in their respective categories, and it might be hard to find them on-rotation at the Mission Terminal.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
