Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars is a JRPG-style game that also features cards. The characters are cards, as are the terrain, equipment, shops, and towns. Everything in the game is made of cards, so it makes sense that the world would have an in-game card game for players to win loot from. But this card game is also multiplayer in Voice of Cards, so players can try it out with their friends.

The Card Game Inside the Card Game

The in-game card game was featured briefly in the demo for Voice of Cards. In all of the towns, there will be a gaming location where players can battle against NPCs in order to get potions, money, and other fun items. And for those who are fans of the game, they can enter Multiplayer Mode in order to play as many games as they wish.

Multiplayer Mode in Voice of Cards

Multiplayer Mode can be found on the main menu of Square Enix's Voice of Cards. It's the fourth option on the menu, after Continue, New Game, and Options and before Add On Content. Clicking this will open up the unlimited play version of the card game, and players can either play on their own against NPCs or with friends. There is an option for single player, 2 players, 3 players, or 4. Players will also get to choose what rules to play and whether or not they will share a controller for the game or not.

Unfortunately, there is not an online multiplayer in the strange Yoko Taro titleVoice of Cards, and there does not seem to be any plan to make one either. But if there are some other gamers hanging out at a player's home, they can all couch play this in-game card game together.

Possible Settings for Multiplayer

Players can choose from a variety of settings for them and their friends to battle with cards together. There are choices to:

  • Play single player with CPU opponents.
  • Play multiplayer up to four real players with the rest filled in with CPU players.
  • Choice of the rules of the game, including the simple version and the version with random events and skills.
  • Choice of sharing one controller or using multiple.
  • Choice of the character card to represent each player.

Since there is a button on the menu for DLC, players can expect to see new content for Voice of Cards in the coming months, and hopefully, it will include more options for in-game card gameplay.

Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars is available for PC, PS4, and Switch.
