Vin Diesel has portrayed several characters over the course of his career as an actor. However, there is no denying that he is best known for his portrayal of Dominic Toretto in the Fast and Furious franchise. Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, on the other hand, know him as Groot in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. One fan decided to create a mashup of both characters, which received a lot of love from Diesel himself.

Fans on social media create several memes and fan art related to the Fast and Furious franchise. The most common ones are based on Diesel’s iconic dialogues in the franchise about “family,” and the actor often shares them on his social media accounts. This week, however, the piece of fan art that caught the actor’s attention was one that smashed together two of his most popular characters, Groot and Dom. He had a good laugh over it, and is awaiting the release of his next film, Fast X.

Diesel shared the fan art on his Instagram account and wrote, “Hahaha… love your fan art.” In the artwork, Diesel’s Groot is seen sitting in the front seat of Dom’s car and posing in the exact same manner as the street racer. Diesel indirectly reminds his fans that Fast X comes out soon by writing, “May is going to be a very special month for film.” The actor feels “blessed and grateful,” for the love he has received from fans, considering the Fast and Furious franchise has become extremely popular and developed a sort of cult following in the past two decades.

The image received over a million likes, with thousands of comments appreciating the fan art for bringing two of their favorite franchises together. Many fans joked about how they are all family, while others simply commented “We are Groot.” Both Dom and Groot are memorable for their own reasons and dialogues, but fans seem quite excited to see them come together in such a way.

Fans of the Fast and Furious franchise are currently waiting for the trailer launch of Fast X. According to Diesel, the long-awaited trailer will be released in “less than two months.” This means that the trailer could potentially screen ahead of Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania, another offering from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Perhaps the MCU and Dom’s allies are going to end up being family afterall.

Fast X is scheduled to premiere in theaters on May 19, 2023.
