Everyone loves a good crossover, especially when it's a vs. crossover. We can see this with the success of games like Marvel vs. Capcom, Multiversus, and even Super Smash Brothers. Fighting game crossovers have been known to generate insane amounts of hype, like when The Legend of Zelda's Link made it into the GameCube version of Soul Caliber 2, or how Akuma was a DLC character for Tekken 7.

Nothing is more satisfying than being able to settle those old playground arguments about who would win in a fight between two of your favorite fictional characters. While things still aren't at the point where fans can expect a DC vs. Marvel fighting game anytime soon, the inclusion of Scorpion and Raiden in the Injustice games showed us that studios are more open to the idea of crossover fighters today than they have ever been in the past.

8 Sony/Playstation

Playstation Logo

While Sony has created their own crossover party fighter before in Playstation All-stars Battle Royal, it's safe to say the company's characters deserve another chance to square off with one another. This would also be a great opportunity to include characters that weren't in Playstation All-stars Battle Royal like Spyro, Crash, and Joel/Ellie.

While Playstation All-stars Battle Royal was a lot of fun for many, some Playstation fans thought the game was a bit too similar to Nintendo's Super Smash Brothers series. Getting a Playstation crossover game done in the style of a traditional 2D or 3D fighter would likely be more appealing to those fans.

7 Disney Interactive Studios

Disney Logo

While Disney may not seem like a video game company, they've produced their fair share of classics in their day. Considering the popularity of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl and Multiversus there is certainly a market for crossover games featuring fan-favorite cartoon characters, and Disney has some of the most widely recognized cartoon characters of all time.

Disney also has giants like Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel to fall back on for extra characters. Disney's crossover fighter could be done similarly to other platform fighters but knowing Disney's track record for uniqueness, they might also go for a 2D team-based fighter like Marvel vs Capcom, or a 3D arena fighter like Naruto's Storm series.

6 Behaviour Interactive

Behaviour Interactive is the development studio behind the popular multiplayer horror game, Dead By Daylight. Dead By Daylight is a multiplayer horror game where players are divided into two playable groups, the survivors and the killer/hunter.

Dead By Daylight features a fairly large cast of unique and interesting hunters, all of which have their own unique abilities. These characters alone would make for a pretty interesting roster of fighters, but Dead By Daylight also features many crossover characters from horror movies and video games like Ghost Face, Michel Myers, and Nemesis. There is no question that a fighting game featuring horror movie and video game icons would be an absolute hit.

5 Microsoft/Xbox

Xbox

Both Sony and Nintendo have created crossover fighters in the past, it's about time Microsoft threw its hat in the ring. Microsoft currently has more than enough exclusive franchises it can use to fill out a roster. They have all the characters from the Halo series, Gears series, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, the legendary Doom Slayer, and even the critically acclaimed names from Rare Ware like Banjo Kazooie, Conker the Squirrel, the entire cast of Killer Instinct, and The Battle Toads.

Given the wide and varied backgrounds and gameplay styles of all the different characters and franchises, Microsoft could create a crossover fighter that is completely different from what's currently on the market. Maybe a 3D battle royal fighter? The possibilities are limitless and very exciting.

4 Sega

Sega 3D Classics Collection

Sega as a company is a gaming legend. Sega's lineup of consoles allowed them to go toe to toe with Nintendo's NES and SNES. While the company no longer competes in the console-making business, it does continue to make and publish video games. Some of their most popular titles include Bayonetta, the Persona series, the Shin Megami Tensei series, Sonic the Hedgehog, Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Jet Set Radio, Super Monkey Ball, Shenmue, Shinobi, Nights, and Phantasy Star.

With such a vast library of characters, it's a wonder why Sega hasn't done a crossover fighter yet. Thanks to games like Sega Superstars Tennis, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, and even the mobile game SEGA Heroes, it's safe to assume Sega is open to the idea of crossover games. Here's hoping they have a crossover fighter currently in the works.

3 Capcom

Capcom

Capcom is no stranger to crossover fighting games. They're the creators of the ever-popular competitive fighting game series, Marvel vs. Capcom. Each of the games in this series features a different selection of popular Capcom characters from series like Mega Man, Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Final Fight, Strider, Viewtiful Joe, Devil May Cry, and many more.

The company has more than enough characters to fill out a roster with its own IPs and many fans would love to see a fighter carried by Capcom's legacy characters alone. The game's style can be done in either the traditional Street Fighter style or the team-based Marvel vs. Capcom style, either way, fans would have a blast.

2 Bandai Namco

bandai_namco

Another one of gaming's historical icons, Bandai Namco has a wide range of arcade classic characters like Pac-man to fill in their roster. The company also has many modern multi-million dollar franchises it can pull characters from as well like Tekken, Soul Calibur, The Tales of franchise, and even the Dark Souls series.

Given the fact that Bandai Namco is responsible for two of the most popular 3D fighters on the market, their crossover game would likely use one of the two series engines or a completely brand-new engine that shares elements from the other two. This would also be a great chance to see some of their classic arcade characters in 3D.

1 Square Enix

Square Enix

Square Enix could pull characters from franchises like Bravely Default, Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and any of the non-Disney Kingdom Hearts characters. Square Enix's crossover fighter could take influence from multiple different fighters.

It could be a 3D fighter in the style of SoulCalibur, after all, most of the characters from their JRPGs use a weapon of some kind. It would also be interesting to see many of their older 2D characters reimagined in 3d. Alternatively, the game could take inspiration from Marvel vs. Capcom's 3v3 tag system in a 2D fighter. Either way, fans would enjoy seeing all these characters and their unique mechanics, duking it out with one another.
