Anyone who has played the first Dark Souls will know just how unpleasant Blighttown can be. This region is a dark and confusing maze that is filled with enemies that can be impossible to target at the best of times. When traveling through th game, it can feel like taking two steps forward and one step back. Also, dying in Blighttown means having to restart the entire ordeal. This is Dark Souls, after all.

Why Dark Souls' Smough is One of the Most Terrifying Bosses in the Series

Ever since the first Dark Souls, Executioner Smough remains one of the series' most horrifying characters for more than just a challenging boss fight.

Unfortunately, the journey through Blighttown cannot be skipped, as it is necessary to progress to the next part of the game. However, there is a way to skip a significant portion of this region. Players who pick up the Master Key as their chosen gift during character creation have the option to travel through the Valley of Drakes instead. The shortcut door is found in the New Londo Ruins, and is well worth taking. The Valley of Drakes is not an easy path, but most players prefer it if it means skipping part of Blighttown.

Released
December 14, 2000
Developer(s)
Game Freak
Genre(s)
RPG

The second generation of Pokemon introduced the idea of roaming legendaries to the franchise. During the game's story, the player will be introduced to three legendary Pokemon; Suicune, Entei, and Raikou. These three Pokemon will roam the Johto region, and only appear in random patches of grass. Trying to catch these Pokemon can be challenging, as they have a low catch rate and will flee after a short amount of time.

Since Suicune is on the box art for Pokemon: Crystal, it is natural for players to complete the story in this game without catching any of the roaming legendaries. As such, anyone who is not trying to finish the Pokedex can just skip out on trying to capture these Pokemon altogether.

Each of these drone missions varies in difficulty, but none of them offer anything new to the game. The only achievement for completing these frustrating chases ends up being a cut scene that reveals that Chameleon is in New York and planning something for a future game. As a result, players may want to hit pause and choose the skip option every time one of these drones needs following, just get to the end without too much trouble.

The main story of Fallout 4 tasks the player with joining one of the main factions in the Commonwealth. Luckily, only one of these factions' storylines is necessary for completing the game, and all other factions will be fought against depending on the player's choice. It can be difficult to choose between some of the factions in Fallout 4, as The Brotherhood of Steel offers the player some extra firepower, The Minutemen give the player lots of new settlements to build on, and The Institute has some unique goals and weaponry.

Sadly, the fourth faction in the game does not offer much. The Railroad is a mysterious underground organization with very few perks on offer. Their quests often involve stealth sections or puzzle-solving, which isn't very fun in a game with rocket launchers and power armor. Luckily, their entire questline can be easily skipped by simply siding with another faction in the story.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City focuses on letting the game's protagonist, Tommy Vercetti, take over the city by purchasing businesses and using them for his own means. There are a total of eight major businesses in Vice City for players to buy, and each one comes with a series of side quests or mini-games to complete. These range from arranging a bank heist to just sitting in a strip club. To unlock the final two missions in the game, players must buy and complete six of these businesses' quests.

While it can be difficult to choose which businesses to choose, most players are happy when they discover they can skip the Cherry Popper Ice Cream missions. This business has the player drive around and drop off drugs around the city. However, the player needs to make fifty successful drops in a row to complete this business. It is tedious and slow, so it is fortunate that this mission can be skipped by simply choosing six of the game's other businesses to complete instead.

Part of the fun of a big open world fantasy game like Baldur's Gate 3 is that it is endlessly replayable. There are dozens of different characters to create, party members to assemble, and choices to make that result in a new experience every time. Sadly, a long tutorial section can deter players from revisiting the game for a new adventure. Anyone who has been through the game before knows how to play, and there are few interesting things to do in this section beyond creating a character.

During the main questline in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, Martin Septim deciphers that the next city to be targeted by the Daedra is going to be Bruma. This means that a giant Oblivion gate is going to appear outside the walls, and the new Emperor asks the player to journey to the other cities on the map to seek help. Unfortunately, the Counts in each city will not offer help so long as there is an open Oblivion gate outside their own city. As such, they will ask the player to close each gate before they agree to send aid. This means that the player must enter the bland plain of Oblivion seven different times and escape to complete this quest.

Since this quest main story, many players assume that it is mandatory. However, it is perfectly okay to ignore this quest altogether without consequences. Enough of Bruma's militia show up during the final fight, and there seems to be no difference in the outcome of the battle whether this quest is skipped or not.
