Sony released an extended version of the Venom: Let There Be Carnage post-credits scene. The film was released last October and it gave fans their first look at the live-action incarnation of the Scarlet symbiote Carnage.

In the post-credits scene that fans saw when they watched Sony’s Venom 2 in theaters, Eddie Brock and the Symbiote are in a hotel room discussing the existence of other universes. Suddenly, a blinding light brings the duo to a different hotel room, where they see a report on television in which J. Jonah Jameson reveals the true identity of Tom Holland's Spider-Man.

The extended clip recently released by Sony is an alternate version of the aforementioned Venom 2 post-credits scene. However, this time around Eddie and the Symbiote debate whether or not they "love" each other. It's a nice humorous moment that is heavily implying that there's a denial of active feelings towards each other. Maybe it won't take another near-death experience to make these two be honest with each other. Before discussing their feelings for each other, the duo was exploring the possibility of finding a new home that needed a protector, which prompts Venom to ask if he would need a superhero mask.

With Venom 2, Sony was able to improve upon the characterization of Eddie Brock and his bond with the Venom symbiote. Fans got to see the relationship unfold over the course of the film, which really explored how these two characters would not be complete without the other. This dynamic was heavily reflected in the end credits scene, where fans got to see the two interact on a very peaceful and beautiful beach. The two took a much-needed and deserved vacation away from the city, away from the commotion, and, most importantly, away from the federal agents looking for them.

If Venom gets another sequel, fans will hopefully get to see more of this dynamic moving forward. As of now, if Venom were to be implemented into a movie with Spider-Man, there's no telling how they would handle making him become a "villain" because he doesn't necessarily classify as evil. Eddie Brock is more of a complicated individual, especially with the symbiote using him as a host. Brock wants to do his job, mind his business, and stay out of trouble. Venom, on the other hand, has a constant hunger for human bodies that requires him to eat people, which is in total opposition to what Brock wants.

At the end of the sequel, Venom and Eddie Brock appeared to have put aside their differences, ultimately being able to come to an understanding. There are definitely ways to explore this complex relationship without turning him into an outright villain for a Spider-Man film. However, with that being said, there's no telling whether or not this will happen at any point, so fans will have to wait and see how Sony, Marvel Studios, and Disney handle this.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is now available on Digital and will be released on Blu-ray on December 14, 2021.
