It won't be long before one of the most highly anticipated horror games of 2018 officially hits store shelves, as Focus Home Interactive and Dontnod Entertainment's forthcoming action-RPG Vampyr is set for release next week. Now, in order to prime fans for its availability and celebrate the title going live, the publisher and developer have decided to release the game's launch trailer today.

As seen below in Vampyr's official launch trailer, gamers are introduced to the plight of the action-RPG's newly-turned vampire protagonist Dr. Jonathan Reid, as he prepares to either give into his blood lust and haunt the streets of 1918 London or save its inhabitants by subduing the wicked nature brooding inside him. For the most part, the footage centers around various cinematics and cut-scenes found within the game in order to illustrate the story, but there are hints at certain bloody combat elements as well.

Although Vampyr's launch trailer provides a decent foundation for potential fans to use as a means to understand the premise of the story, it's safe to say many will likely want to have a better grasp at the kind of gameplay that will be offered in the action-RPG before committing to a purchase. Thankfully, Focus Home Interactive and Dontnod Entertainment recently held a livestream about a week ago in which the publisher and developer displayed nearly an entire hour of gameplay.

All things considered, Vampyr definitely has loads of potential to offer horror fans an immersive and unique experience by providing them with the chance to navigate the murky moral waters that would undoubtedly come with being unexpectedly imbued with powers typically attributed to that of an ancient evil. As previously intimated, players will be given the choice to either send Dr. Reid down the path of pure chaos by reveling in his dark side or to help him preserve his humanity by focusing his abilities to save those in need. Without a doubt, these aspects and more could help Vampyr become the sleeper hit of this year.

Vampyr is set to launch on June 5, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
