Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, the vampire role-playing game based on the tabletop RPG by White Wolf Publishing, is being delayed again. The developers at Hardsuit Labs are delaying the game to next year in order to ensure that it'll meet the company's standards of quality.

Set in modern-day Seattle, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 puts players in the role of a newly-Embraced vampire finding their way in their newfound world of vampire clan intrigue and slowly gaining power. These powers, which are determined by the player's vampire clan, are powered by resonance, which represents strong emotional feelings in humans. Because vampires don't feel strong emotions, they have to get it from people who already have those powerful emotions in their blood.

However, players will have to wait a bit longer in order to take on the mantle of a hunter. In a tweet sent out just this morning, Andy Kipling from Hardsuit Labs and Jakob Munthe from Paradox Interactive, announced that the two companies will be moving back the launch of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 to sometime in 2021. Andy and Jakob state that the reason for the delay is that because of the "quality bar and ambitions" they've set for themselves, they concluded that releasing the game in 2020 would no longer be feasible. The two also stated that more information "on launch timing and other organizational changes" will be available in the coming months.

Part of the reason for the delay may come from the team severing ties with writer Chris Avellone after sexual harassment accusations emerged. Chris, who has been involved with projects like Fallout: New Vegas, Prey, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, had contributed some writing to the game earlier in its development. However, after the accusations popped up a few months ago, Paradox announced that none of his contributions would be in the final game.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 isn't the only property based on the World of Darkness that's coming down the pipe. Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong, which is also releasing in 2021, will have players play as three different vampires as they investigate a shooting that happened at a party celebrating the ascension of a new vampire Prince. Outside of vampires, there's also Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood, which will put players in the role of a beastly eco-terrorist fighting against a greedy corporation.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 will release in 2021 on the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X
