Many long-time players of Vampire Survivors have amassed hundreds of thousands of gold coins. This is after purchasing all the global Power-ups and unlockable characters. There just wasn't anything on which to spend that hard-earned gold. This caused some players to ask why the developers even bothered adding a money accumulating mechanic into the game.

All that has been thrown out the window with the last update to Vampire Survivors: a merchant has been added to the game! This concept definitely needs some expansion; however, it's incredibly useful to have this option. This guide will help players unlock the merchant for all levels, as well as give a brief overview of how the merchant operates.

Encountering The Merchant

Meeting the merchant in the Inlaid Library in Vampire Survivors

The first encounter with the red-colored merchant is in the Moonglow bonus stage. This stage gives almost all the accessories as pick-up items, giving the player incredible freedom to play with different builds. The accessories are clustered in groups of four, and in between these clusters the merchant can be found waiting. To activate the merchant, the player must make contact with the merchant's sprite; this will open up a menu displaying what is available for purchase.

The Glass Vizard And Other Items For Sale

Buying the Glass Vizard in Vampire Survivors

The first time the player encounters the merchant they will notice something available for purchase called The Glass Vizard. This item makes the merchant available during all stages, not just Moonglow. This costs 10,000 gold, but only needs to be purchased once.

The other item costing 10,000 gold is the Golden Egg, which increases the current character's maximum stat values and can be purchased multiple times. These increases are permanent, though they don't take effect until the next time the character is used. The list below shows what stats can be increased, and by how much, per egg.

  • -0.5% Cooldown Times
  • +1 Max Health
  • +0.1 Amount, Armor, Recovery, Reroll, Revival
  • +0.2 Banish, Skip
  • +0.3 Magnet (item pick-up radius)
  • +1% Area, Curse, Duration, Greed, Growth, Luck, Might, Movement Speed, Projectile Speed

The other items available for purchase are an assortment of the rarest weapons in the game, and include:

  • Bone
  • Cherry Bomb
  • Carello
  • Celestial Dusting

Each of these items costs 1,000 gold and is kept until the current stage is over. Now players can try Dommario with the Runetracer, Bone, and Cherry Bomb weapons; this is even more powerful with the Chaos in the Dark Night Arcana and the Duplicator and Bracer accessories.

Rules Of The Merchant

While playing, there are a few things the player should keep in mind regarding the merchant. The first and most important thing to remember is that the player can only visit the merchant once per stage. Even if the player doesn't buy anything from the merchant, he disappears after closing the store selection screen.

Additionally, using the merchant does not let the player have more than six weapons. If the player already has six weapons, they cannot buy any from the merchant. Lastly, the merchant will remain in the stage until the stage is over, or until the player closes the store selection screen.

Vampire Survivors was released on Dec. 17th, 2021, for the PC and macOS.
