Vampire Survivors is soon due to receive a substantial update that promises to remix existing content and provide a novel experience. It has been nearly two years since Vampire Survivors entered early access on Steam, an additional nine months after the game was first released on itch.io, and the developers show no sign of moving on.

Luca Galante likely did not expect his solo project to blossom into a continuous, fifteen-person strong development cycle. Now known as Poncle, the team behind Vampire Survivors has consistently released updates for the critically acclaimed and commercially beloved indie title. This year alone has seen a second DLC, a new engine, local co-op, a Nintendo Switch release, as well as dozens of achievements drip-fed every few months that kept ruining everyone's 100% completion status. But Poncle has been teasing a feature called "Adventures" since October, suggesting that it would be available before the end of 2023.

Steam's Early Access period is bringing players yet another excellent Survivor-like to join the ranks of Vampire Survivors and Halls of Torment.

Adventures will now be released alongside v1.8.0: The Deeplorable Update on December 6 and is to be presented during the Day of the Devs showcase on the same day. A video teasing the upcoming content accompanied the announcement, which sees one of Vampire Survivors' playable characters, Poe Ratcho, journeying through environments that seem much more involved than the traditional endless sprawl. Two Adventures titled "A Garlic Paradise" and "World of Light and Dark" will be available to all owners of the base game, whereas "Legacy of the Moonspell" requires players to have purchased the titular DLC.

However, December 6 is the release date for PC and Xbox only; Nintendo Switch and mobile players will have to wait for an undetermined length of time. Poncle explained in a Steam activity post for the October Whiteout update that despite its desire to release patches globally, each platform abides by different guidelines and processes for approval, and committed to not holding back finished updates if a version submission was rejected.

Even with this update and partial delay, Vampire Survivors is seemingly still not finished with additional content this year, as outlined by the Chaos Roadmap featured in its most recent Steam post. The self-described "highly cryptic list" is light on details, but Poncle stated that it was not comfortable setting out specifics in case of unexpected obstacles, alluding to when Unity attempted to implement a deeply controversial pricing policy earlier this year which would have seen developers charged for every install of their games after reaching certain milestones.
