In 2019, Wlad Marhulets of Unfold Games released horror puzzle/platformer Darq. Darq received mixed reviews at the time of its release, but it still earned praise for its creepy atmosphere. The next project from Marhulets and Unfold Games looks to be significantly more ambitious than Darq, trading that game's puzzle/platformer gameplay for Stardew Valley-inspired simulation, but while retaining its horror aesthetic.

Bloody Hell Hotel is Marhulets' next project, as revealed by IGN. It's a first-person simulation game where players are a vampire running a hotel, tasked with meeting guests' needs, but also able to kill them to enhance one's vampiric powers. Bloody Hell Hotel players can farm crops, craft weapons, manage the hotel (which can include feeding the guests human meat), and even go dungeon-crawling to fight enemies like zombies. Speaking to IGN, Marhulets compared Bloody Hell Hotel's dungeon crawling as "exploring caves in Stardew Valley, but in a twisted Tim Burton-like 3D world."

On paper, Bloody Hell Hotel does sound like a first-person twist on the Stardew Valley simulation formula. The first-person view, horror aesthetic, and modern-looking graphics really help it stand out from its inspiration, however. The Tim Burton-inspired characters are also readily apparent by the reveal trailer, and so fans of Burton's work or Stardew Valley should both be intrigued by Bloody Hell Hotel.

Bloody Hell Hotel is currently without a release date, and console gamers may be disappointed to learn that, at the time of this writing, it's only aiming for release on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG. Darq was a PC-only game at first as well, though it eventually made its way to consoles, so there's hope for Bloody Hell Hotel to do the same. There's already quite a bit of buzz about Bloody Hell Hotel online, so maybe fans will luck out and won't have to wait too long for the console version.

It was confirmed by IGN that Bloody Hell Hotel will not have an early access period, which is abnormal for PC-only games in its genre. While this means fans may have to wait a bit longer to play Bloody Hell Hotel for themselves, the good news is that it should launch as a content-complete game and may avoid making a bad first impression, like some early access titles tend to do. Hopefully fans don't have to wait too much longer for more information on Bloody Hell Hotel and when exactly they'll be able to check it out for themselves.

Bloody Hell Hotel is in development for PC.
