Even though 2023 still has a good few months left, that has not stopped Valve from revealing its plans for the upcoming Steam sales that will launch in the early part of 2024. According to Valve, the first quarter of 2024 will see seven Steam sales, including the traditional Spring Sale, one of three planned Next Fest events, and five themed sales.
The news arrived just days after Steam celebrated its 20th anniversary. One of the temporary changes made Steam's website and desktop app look as it did when it was first released as a launcher for Counter-Strike, complete with a green background. The celebration also hosted a sale that offered some deep discounts on Valve titles such as Portal and Left 4 Dead, as well as other hits on the platform over the last two decades. Though 2023 is not done yet, Valve is already looking ahead to starting 2024 in a major way.
According to a post from Steamworks Development, the first seven Steam sales of 2024 will take place in the first quarter of the year. The Capitalism and Economy Fest will be the first of them and will run from January 8 to 15. This event will likely focus on economic simulators such as the indie hit Factorio as well as games with strong player-run economies. Following that is the Pirates vs. Ninjas Fest from January 22 to 29. The first Next Fest of 2024 will be held from February 5 to 12, and the Remote Play Together event will follow immediately after, from February 12 to 19.
The Dinos vs. Robots Fest is scheduled from February 26 to March 4 and the first major seasonal sale of 2024, the Steam Spring Sale, will begin on March 14 and conclude on March 21. Finally, games such as Slay the Spire and Inscryption will take center stage during the Deckbuilders Fest from March 25 to April 1.

Steam will have five more sales through the rest of 2023. The SHMUP Fest will run from September 25 to October 2, followed by the final Next Fest of the year from October 9 to 16. The annual Steam Scream Fest will run in the days leading up to Halloween, with more details to come at a later date. The final seasonal sales of the year, the Steam Autumn and Winter Sales, will take place in November and December respectively.
The Steam Winter Sale will also extend into the first four days of 2024, so Steam users should budget accordingly. With bargains that can bring Steam games down to $20 or less, only time will tell how low the discounts will go.
