After a statement posted on Cleo "Cle0h" Hernández's Twitter accusing Sinatraa of sexual abuse right after International Women's Day, Jay "Sinatraa" Wong has been suspended from Valorant. Riot Games decided to cut ties with Wong after launching an investigation over Hernández's accusations, which led the company to the decision of suspending the player from Valorant Stage 1 Masters. Furthermore, the Sentinels have also launched a statement confirming Wong's suspension from the team while the former player is investigated.
This is not the first time the Valorant gaming community has had to discuss the problems of online harassment and sexist behavior towards women. Female players have reported being subjected to inappropriate behavior and even Anna Donlon, Valorant's executive producer, has admitted she refuses to play solo as she has experienced the problematic behavior herself. Unfortunately, this time the accusations are being directed towards a member of the Sentinel team who happens to be one of the game's best players.
Hernández shared the accusation through a Google Document that she linked on a Tweet. In the document, Hernández shares her story about the abuses she suffered during her 9-month relationship with Wong and goes into detail about the psychological and sexual abuse she claims to have experienced. Although the investigation is ongoing, the document includes a series of screenshots and a recording that seem to confirm her affirmations. So far, Wong is yet to confirm or deny the allegations.
Wong's dismissal from the team happened right before the Valorant Champions Tour Stage 1 Masters. Sentinels are scheduled to go against Luminosity Gaming in only a couple of days on March 12. Although Wong's participation in the team was important, as he has become one of the best North American Valorant players, the Sentinels are ready to compete using a substitute for him, who is yet to be announced. This was confirmed after Shahzeb ‘ShahZaM’ Khan quoted Valorant Champions Tour's tweet signed by Alex Francois informing about Wong's suspension and the investigation being held against him.
After tweeting her accusation, Hernández expressed that Wong's current partner has reached out to her but that she is in no way involved with the events in Hernández's story. Furthermore, Hernández also quoted Valorant Champions Tour's tweet mentioning she hopes she is contacted as part of the investigation launched against Wong. Unfortunately, Hernández has to restrict responses so users who are not mentioned in her Tweet cannot reply because some of the interactions with her tweets have been unsupportive, some of them even suggesting this is an attempt to undermine Wong's career.
