Shortly after banning a number of followers, YouTube sensation Valkyrae explained why she took the step. For those who don’t know, Rachell Hofstetter, better known as Valkyrae, is an American-based YouTuber and Twitch streamer. Valkyrae first rose to prominence as a member of the 100 Thieves gaming organization and has since become one of the most popular internet personalities. She is now a full-time streamer and content creator and has amassed a large following of over three million YouTube subscribers and around one million Twitch followers.

Valkyrae, who signed a multi-million-dollar deal with YouTube in early 2022, is known for her entertaining stream content and outgoing personality. Her positive attitude and willingness to engage with the audience is what made her one of the most popular streamers on both YouTube and Twitch. However, during a recent YouTube stream, she banned many of her followers, leading many to wonder what caused her outburst.

This incident took place when Valkyrae was watching a true-crime documentary on YouTube in a live stream. Valkyrae explained that, in reaction to the violence brought up in the documentary, she commented “It’s not all men, but…” which triggered many of the viewers, and they started attacking her in the comment section. So, she took it upon herself to sort through the chat for inappropriate comments and ended up banning a sizable chunk of viewers who had made aggressive or hateful statements.

Valkyrae also mentioned that in addition to the negative comments she received, she also saw many comments from people who appreciated her stance. She thanked those viewers and said that people who try to protect women are the best people. This isn't the first time Valkyrie has made such actions. A few days ago while explaining why she left the Grand Theft Auto RP server, she said that though she loved the game, she couldn't handle GTA RP's community, which she found to be crazy and scary. This goes on to show that Valkyrae is the kind of person who is always ready to take on trolls, even if it means losing a few thousand followers.

With the anonymity of the internet, some feel free to say whatever they want, regardless of how hurtful it may be. This can be extremely damaging to the person on the receiving end, especially if they are already dealing with mental health issues. A few days ago, popular Twitch streamer Pokimane reveals that she is working on a system to hold online trolls accountable for their actions. While there is no easy solution to this problem, the best way to get rid of them is by simply hitting the block button.
