While the focus of the online gaming community has shifted to the biggest releases of the holiday season, there's no denying that Valheim is one of the most important game releases of 2021. Valheim dominated Steam's sales charts earlier this year for well over a month, with the game's combination of RPG progression and survival gameplay capturing PC gamers' hearts. And while the excitement surrounding Valheim has waned somewhat, developers Iron Gate continue to roll out updates and new content for the game.

Dropping on Thursday, Iron Gate's latest patch for Valheim is mostly focused on a handful of bug fixes. However, there's also an interesting bit of new content added to the game that should have curious players diving back in. A new set of armor has been added to the game, though it's veiled in Iron Gate's chosen shroud of secrecy for new content. The one clue that Iron Gate is willing to share is that, "Something stirs in the swamps." Players may want to be armed before they go exploring.

Those interested in spoilers will be pleased to know that Iron Gate did offer a bit more information about what it has released in its monthly blog post on Steam. To start, a screenshot of the new set of armor was shared. It's a unique design where tree roots appear to have grown around each piece in the set. It's appropriately swampy, to say the least.

As for how players will be able to make the new swamp armor set, Iron Gate is only willing to give a bit of a clue. Once again, Iron Gate refers to "something strange" in the swamp. Beyond that, all it says is that this new, mysterious discovery in the swamp will offer up crafting materials that can be used to make the new armor set.

Outside of the new content included in today's Thanksgiving patch, several bugs were also addressed. Oddly enough, the bugs are only referenced in an ambiguous way, though Valheim faithful may know exactly what the problem is. For example, a jumping animation issues was fixed, the swamp's music has been adjusted, monsters will now wake up when hit by a ranged attack, and a network issue caused by picking up auto-stacking items has been addressed.

Iron Gate also addressed what's coming next in Valheim, known to be the Mistlands update. Outside of a new screenshot, however, Iron Gate is keeping secretive about what hides in the mist. Iron Gate did, however, tease that after Mistlands it plans to add a Mountains biome update, including caves. Within these caves may reside some "lupine inhabitants." As ever, the future of Valheim is very bright.

Valheim is available now on PC.
