The new Mistlands update to Valheim brings players into a new biome with unique materials and enemies to uncover. While the mess of mist and powerful creatures makes for an exciting area to explore, it can also distract from gathering the right materials needed for progression. One of the more important of these is Yggdrasil Wood, the latest addition to Valheim's wood tier list.

Yggdrasil Wood plays a vital role in constructing some of the more important items as part of the Mistlands update, which is now live on Valheim's Public Test Branch. For those players looking for Yggdrasil Wood and to learn how best to put it to use, this guide is here to help.

Where To Find Yggdrasil Wood In Valheim?

Yggdrasil Wood can only be found in the new Mistlands biome in Valheim as drops from the large Yggdrasil Shoots. Similar to the relationship between Pine Trees and Core Wood in the Black Forest, Yggdrasil Shoots can be chopped down to produce both wood and Yggdrasil Wood. The difference here is the level axe required for felling this tree is much higher.

For Yggdrasil Wood, players need to create a Black Metal Axe, an item that requires materials from Valheim's Plains biome. Smaller shoots that grow around the area will likely only produce regular wood when chopped down and the large pulsing roots serve a completely different purpose.

What to Use Yggdrasil Wood For In Valheim?

Yggdrasil Wood has a variety of different uses as part of the Mistlands update. Progression-wise the most important items that require Yggdrasil Wood are the Black Forge (10) and the Galdr Table (20). These are the two crafting stations associated with the Mistlands biome with the former being responsible for the more traditional weapons and armor and the latter for the new magical element brought to Valheim through this update.

Aside from these applications, Yggdrasil Wood is required for the creation of an Eitr Refinery (10), a piece of machinery that players need in order to gather Eitr. Eitr is required for crafting almost every magical item in the game and players looking to take advantage of it will need to harvest this wood. For those looking to better defend their base, there are also a pair of new defensive structures that require Yggdrasil Wood: Dvergr Sharp Stakes and Dvergr Stakewall.

Valheim is available now for PC, and releases in early 2023 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
