Players looking to fight the creatures of Valheim's new Mistlands biome will likely need to turn to the game's new weapons. Outside the new magic system, the developers made sure to add in new melee and ranged weapons. While there are plenty of options to choose from, one of the more intriguing of these is Krom, the longsword.
This massive weapon can clear rooms with ease but costs a significant amount of resources. For those Valheim players looking to unlock the recipe for the Krom longsword and create it, this guide is here to help.
How to Create a Krom Longsword?
The Krom costs players 30 Iron, 20 Bronze, and 5 Scale Hide and is craftable at a level 1 Black Forge. This is a new crafting bench available through Valheim's Mistlands update now on the game's Public Test Branch. Once players have found or crafted one example of each of these, the recipe will become available. This list of ingredients requires players travel to a few different biomes including the Black Forest, the Swamp, and the Mistlands.
Bronze is a metal created at a regular Forge through the combination of 2 Copper and 1 Tin. These metals can be found throughout the Black Forest biome. Iron is the product of running Scrap Iron and Coal through a Smelter. Scrap Iron can be harvested from within the dungeons of the Swamp Biome and the Ancient Armor and Swords in the Mistlands. Scale Hide is a drop of the newly added Hares that populate the Mistlands.
How to Use a Krom Longsword?
The Krom longsword functions similarly to other weapons in Valheim in that players can right-click to equip it or place it along their hotkey list. The Krom longsword has impressive strength but exchanges this power for a few shortcomings. As a two-handed weapon, players who choose to take on this weapon have to skip having a shield. Being a large sword, it also costs players more stamina than any other sword in Valheim.
The benefits of this sword start with its damage output. The Krom is capable of dealing 150 Slash damage and boasts 52 block armor and 50 block force. In comparison, the Blackmetal Sword maxes out at 95 Slash damage while the Mistwalker can only reach 75. One of the big advantages of this sword is that it boasts a higher knockback than any other sword in Valheim at 55. This helps in cramped situations that players will inevitably run into if they take this weapon into the Infested Mines in the Mistlands.
