How to Make a Stone Oven

The Stone Oven is an exciting, new option for making meals in the game but it can be quite the investment. The recipe for the Stone Oven is 15 Iron, 20 Stone, and 4 Surtling Cores. Iron can be created in a Smelter but requires players to head into Valheim's Swamp Biome and explore the Sunken Crypts first. Players can open these with the Swamp Key they got from defeating the Elder and can check the chests and mine the Muddy Scrap Piles inside for Iron Scrap. Iron Scrap can then be put into an active smelter to produce Iron.

Stone is relatively easy to find and can be picked off the ground, mined from rocks, and collected from killed Greydwarfs. Surtling Cores are often found in Burial Chambers in the Black Forest Biome of Valheim as well as dropped by Surtlings that inhabit the Swamp Biome.

With those materials gathered, players just need to build the Stone Oven in range of an Artisan Table. This means that in order to complete this new cooking station, players will have had to have defeated the fourth boss of Valheim, Moder. That boss gives players the Dragon Tears needed to build an Artisan Table.

How to Use a Stone Oven

The Stone Oven has been added to give more options for players looking to find the best food combination in Valheim. This new cooking location has a distinctive look and players just need Wood in order to start it running. The Stone Oven can hold up to 10 pieces of Wood at a time and players can place the item they wish to bake on the top shelf.

When approaching the Stone Oven, players need to aim at the top part of the opening in order to access its cooking area. The limit for cooking items is 2 and, at the moment, there are only two kinds of food that can be cooked within it. Players can make either Bread or a Lox Meat Pie within the Stone Oven and both require a level 4 Cauldron first.

How to Make Bread and Lox Meat Pie

Bread is the result of placing Bread Dough inside the Stone Oven. Once cooked inside the Oven, Bread provides 25 Health and 75 Stamina, lasting 30 minutes from consumption. But Bread Dough has to be crafted at a Level 4 Cauldron and requires 10 Barley Flour. This investment requires players to add the Spice Rack, Butcher's Table, and Pots and Pans to their Cauldron. On top of this, players need to venture into Valheim's Plains Biome and gather Barley and run it through a Windmill to produce the required Barley Flour.

Lox Meat Pie is the result of placing its uncooked version in the Stone Oven and it provides 75 Health and 24 Stamina, lasting the same amount of time. Uncooked Lox Meat Pie can be crafted at the same level Cauldron and requires 2 Cloudberries, 2 Lox Meat, and 4 Barley Flour. Each of these can be found in the difficult Plains Biome as well with Lox Meat coming from killing those large, tameable creatures in Valheim.

Valheim is available now in Early Access on PC.
