Handling the enemies of Valheim can be anything from a simple task to a disheartening experience, depending on where players are in the progression arc. With the game's latest update, Mistlands, this progression has extended to include more powerful enemies but even stronger weapons. Especially interesting in this new content is the Himmin Afl, an electric polearm.

While this weapon doesn't take advantage of Valheim's new magic system, it does have an interesting attack and magical appearance. For those players looking to craft the Himmin Afl, this guide is here to help.

How to Craft a Himmin Afl in Valheim

This new weapon is only craftable at Valheim's new Black Forge, and its recipe calls for 10 Yggdrasil Wood, 15 Refined Eitr, 2 Mandibles, and 5 Silver bars. As a polearm, this weapon is two-handed, and it summons lightning strikes when it is used to attack. This unique feature means that it deals both Pierce damage (up to 85) and Lightning damage (up to 40). It uses about 20 Stamina per strike, boasts 64 Block Armor and 40 Block Force, and has an impressive knockback stat of 40 for its standard attack.

As of this writing, the Himmin Afl can be upgraded at a level 2 Black Forge. For the cost of 15 Refined Eitr, 2 Mandibles, and 5 Silver bars, players can improve this polearm's durability (from 175 to 225), Lightning damage (from 40 to 46), and Block Force (from 40 to 45). With or without the upgrade, this makes the Himmin Afl one of the most powerful weapons in all of Valheim.

Where to Get the Ingredients for the Himmin Alf?

The Himmin Afl requires ingredients that can only be found in either the Mistlands or the Mountain biome. This means that those looking to build this polearm will need to have progressed past Valheim's fifth boss Yagluth.

The first ingredient, Yggdrasil Wood, can be harvested from Yggdrasil Shoots with a Black Metal Axe. These trees only grow in the game's new Mistlands biome. Mandibles are also exclusively found there and are drops from defeated Seeker Soldiers.

When it comes to Refined Eitr and Silver bars, gathering can be a bit complicated. The Eitr Refinery, a new machine available with the Mistlands update, processes refined Eitr. Players need to combine Sap and Soft Tissue at this location in order to create the needed Refined Eitr.

Silver requires players to equip the reward for defeating Bonemass, the Wishbone, while in the Mountain biome. This will blink when players are near a vein of Silver Ore, which is the item that can be placed within a Smelter to make Silver bars.

Valheim is available now for PC and will be released in early 2023 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
