Valheim, the massively popular survival Viking-themed game, is still in Early Access. Everything in the game is subject to change, and players are encouraged to contact the devs with ideas for changes and updates. This means that the game is not yet finished, and there are some unfinished-looking areas of the massive Valheim map.

"Secret" Biomes

While most players will be familiar with the main six biomes of Valheim, there are several others. Beyond the Meadows, the Black Forests, Swamps, Mountains, Plains, and the Oceans, there are also the Mistlands, the Ashlands, and the Deep North. The Mistlands are a creepy biome covered in spiderwebs, the Ashlands are a fiery empty wasteland of fire and ash, and the Deep North is a freezing icy land far to the north.

The Deep North

There is very little to find in the Deep North of Valheim. While all maps are procedurally generated, the Deep North always appears at the top of the map, and is cold, empty, and brutal. The combination of the wolf armor and cape frost resistance bonuses are not enough to keep away the cold when the player is wet, and makes the need for Valheim's coveted frost-resistance potions even greater than a trek to the Mountain Biome.

What is the Deep North Biome in Valheim

This barren land has no resources, no enemies, and not much to look at other than some pretty, snowy landscapes. So what is the purpose of the Deep Snow biome?

WIP

The Deep North, much like the Ashlands and the Mistlands, is still in progress. This snowy land will most likely be the home of some future content for this Early Access game; it's pretty obvious that the area is incomplete. But it looks like this area may be one of the next locations after players beat the current final boss in Valheim named Yagluth. From the looks of it, players can expect more icy mountain climbing, and maybe even a new freezing boss or new materials for building.

Considering that Valheim has been a top-seller since its release to Early Access, fans of the game will most likely see these expansions come to fruition as this Viking-inspired land continues to grow and change. With as much content and hours that can be spent in each biome, players can expect these three next biomes to also have just as much content to them, if not more. Hopefully, players will get even more Viking-inspired lore to explore in the future.
