Among the new additions brought to Valheim through the new Mistlands update are unique items associated with the Dvergr people. This race was first introduced through the game's trader, Haldor, but has now grown that representation. The addition of the Dvergr people and their outposts in Valheim has allowed the developers the chance to add in their equipment.

Of these Dvergr items one of the more interesting is the Dvergr Lantern. Despite being added in with the new Mistlands update (which is active now on Valheim's Public Test Server), this item's recipe calls for items from earlier biomes. For those players looking to craft a Dvengr Lantern, this guide is here to help.

How to Craft a Dvergr Lantern in Valheim?

The Dvergr Lantern's recipe calls for 2 Bronze bars, 1 Surtling Core, and 1 Crystal. This recipe will unlock when a player has managed to locate or create at least one example of each of these items. Players can craft these lanterns at the new Black Forge that was added with the game's Mistlands update.

Bronze bars are created at a Forge and are created through the combination of 2 Copper Bars and 1 Tin. The ore versions of these metals can be found in the Black Forest biome and these can be smelted at a Smelter. Surtling Cores can be found in the Burial Chambers in the Black Forest biome as well as dropped by the Surtlings which inhibit the Swamp biome and the Ashlands. Crystals are dropped by the Mountain biome's Stone Golems as well as within its Frost Caves.

How to Use a Dvergr Lantern in Valheim?

The Dvergr Lantern itself acts as a type of improved torch, replacing that item and its relatively short lifespan. It functions as a one-handed light that exchanges a bit of movement speed (-5 percent) for lighting. This item can be used in tandem with one-handed weapons such as most of Valheim's swords. Players just need to right-click in order to equip it.

Aside from this purpose, Dvergr Lanterns are also used in crafting. In exchange for 3 Copper bars, 1 Chain, and a Dvergr Lantern, players can create a Dvergr Lantern Pole. Aside from this, players will also be able to exchange 2 Copper bars, 1 Chain, and a Dvergr Lantern to create a Dvergr Wall Lantern. These lights can add an interesting new look to a player's base, but each require a Black Forge in order to be created.

Valheim is available now for PC, and releases in early 2023 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
