In V Rising, the official description of Primal Blood Essence is that it is an energy source distilled from blood. More than that, it is a crucial crafting material used to craft many end-game objects and complete upgrades. You'll use Primal Blood Essence to craft weapons like the Dark Silver variant, armor like the Shadowmoon set, upgrade your Castle to levels 4 and 5, and build essential workbenches like the Anvil and Ancestral Forge.

However, there is only one way you can farm this material, which requires you to complete a handful of tasks you must complete before you can begin. Here's how to get Primal Blood Essence in V Rising.

Spectral Dust is important for crafting in V Rising, and it can only be farmed in a few ways. Here is every method for obtaining this material.

How to Craft the Advanced Blood Press

Jade the Vampire Hunter V Blood Carrier Profile in V Rising

The only way to get Primal Blood Essence in V Rising is by crafting it using an Advanced Blood Press. Once built, there are two recipes you can use to craft Primal Blood Essence that require either Exquisite Hearts or Greater Blood Essence. However, before you can build the Advanced Blood Press, you must unlock it by killing a level 57 V Blood Carrier named Jade the Vampire Hunter. Chances are you've already run into her when farming glass and quartz in the Dunley Farmlands, where she patrols the roads in this region.

Jade the Vampire Hunter likes to use long-range attacks, and will attempt to keep her distance from you. Attack her with melee weapons like axes to damage as much as possible. Once she reaches half health, she will use two powerful attacks that can kill you instantly depending on your current health, so listen to your voice cues and pay attention to her attacks to prevent this from happening. After that, you can continue to melee her without too much worry.

Where to Get Exquisite Hearts

You must engage with NPCs such as Werewolves, Night Lurkers, and Witches to obtain Exquisite Hearts in V Rising. These monsters require a gear level of 60 or higher to survive. Additionally, V Blood Carriers of level 60 or higher also have a chance to drop Exquisite Hearts. A challenging fight awaits in Gracefall Village, but you can strategize by baiting Jade The Vampire Slayer to fight Bane, making it easier to slay everything and get Exquisite Hearts.

If you aim to acquire Exquisite Hearts earlier, around gear level 50, or if you're seeking an easier time with higher gear, there's an alternative. Head to the Silverlight Hills region, located west of Dunley Farmlands. You can engage with Paladin and Knight enemies outside the wall near the docks. This method allows you to find skill jewel upgrades, making it a dual-purpose farming visit.

Where to Get Greater Blood Essence

Making Greater Blood Essence using the Blood Press in V Rising

The only way to get Greater Blood Essence in V Rising is to craft it at a Blood Press. There are two recipes that you can use to craft Greater Blood Essence. The first is unlocked by default when you first build the Blood Press and requires using Unsullied Hearts. However, you must unlock the second recipe by killing Tristan the Vampire Hunter, which uses Blood Essence instead. Tristan the Vampire Hunter is a level 47 V Blood Carrier that patrols the roads of both Farbane Woods and Dunley Farmlands.

Unlike Jade, Tristan is an extremely tough fight, especially if you are playing on Brutal difficulty. Because of this, we recommend you have a higher gear level than the game suggests. The biggest challenge is countering his spin move by watching for the spin animation, using your Veil dash to travel through him when he is close to striking you, and then staying away from him until the spin finishes. After he reaches half health, kite him and slowly chunk his life down.
