The Secrets of Gloomrot update for V Rising brought some notable changes and additions to the game's world, and they've mostly carried over all the way to the game's full release. These range from the general layout of the map to entirely new regions and revamped gameplay systems. There's plenty to explore for new and returning players alike, and the latter crowd might be surprised to see how drastic some of these changes are.

One such major change involves the Sacred Silver Mine north of Brighthaven, one of the main areas in V Rising's natural progression curve. The gates have been shut, so vampires will have to find a new way to get in and out of the complex. Thankfully, the gates won't stay closed forever, and players will eventually be able to breeze through this area every time they need to go for a Silver Ore run.

Updated June 12, 2024 by Marc Santos: The full release of V Rising came with an expanded map, more bosses and enemy types, and an overhauled progression system that affects both V Blood powers and itemization. However, the main gate leading to the Silver Mine in Silverlight Hills remains locked by default, and players will have to open it in order to freely enter and exit the area. The process of opening the gate has remained the same, but this guide has been updated to include some things that players can do to make the experience less painful.

How to Open the Sacred Silver Mine Gates in V Rising

The hidden silver mine entrance in V Rising

The gates can only be opened from the inside. Previously, players could use Rat Form to pass through the gate but in V Rising 1.0, they'll either need to go the long way around and enter via an open cave wall to the northeast of the mine itself, or use Bat Form to fly over the wall. For the former, face the gate and hug the wall to the right, then keep following the path to the hidden entrance. This will lead to a large cave opening full of Silver Ore, which is required to make some of the best gear in V Rising.

Continue down the straight path south to reach the mine's entrance and main outdoor staging area. Here, players will face off against a sizable group of soldiers, including the V Blood boss Sir Magnus the Overseer. This guy uses a variety of melee and ice-based attacks that can cover a lot of distance — keep his position in mind and try not to fight him indoors since he can lock players inside with him with his breakable ice walls.

The Ruffian slaves inside the mine are extremely helpful in this fight. Kill the Slave Masters, and they will stop mining and start trying to escape while fighting everything else for the players, so try to keep them alive until then. Freeing Ruffians locked inside cages will also cause them to rebel and fight their overlords.

You don't need to kill Magnus to open the gate, which is great for players who have already been to the mine before. Either send the Ruffians to distract him, or use V Rising's Rat Form power and open the gate unnoticed. Stand near the winch and point at the portcullis to open it. Just keep in mind that the gate will close shortly after being opened.
