Managing your blood type in V Rising plays an important part in maintaining your overall power. The type of blood you consume dictates what passive bonuses you enjoy simply for being well-fed. Blood Merlot helps with this by providing players with the means to consume whatever blood type they want at will.

Unlike regular Blood Potions, Blood Merlot is more economical. However, that also means its more expensive to make, and it isn't available until later. Still, it's a great way to save your favorite blood type in V Rising, and every player should endeavor to have these consumables ready at all times.

How To Make And Use Blood Merlot In V Rising

Baron du Bouchon in V Rising

First, you'll need to unlock the recipe for Blood Merlot by beating Baron du Bouchon the Sommelier, one of the many V Blood bosses in V Rising. He is a level 70 boss who can be found in Silverlight Hills, so don't expect to fight him until you become strong enough to fight the knights and paladins in that area. Baron du Bouchon is inside the main processing building in the Brighthaven Vineyards.

Once you do beat the Baron, you'll unlock a number of rewards, including a Tier 2 Blood Spell point, craftable Barrel Disguises, Rural Garden Fences, and of course, the ability to make Blood Merlot and the Blood Merlot Amulet, which increases Spell Power and reduces your Blood Decay Rate.

Blood Merlot in V Rising

To make Blood Merlot in V Rising, you first need to make a prison within one of your castles. Build and place a Prison Cell, then capture an enemy using the Dominate Human Vampire Power. Once your prey is locked behind bars, interact with the Prison Cell to open up a bunch of crafting options and actions. Blood Merlot will be among these choices, and you'll need some Sacred Grapes and an Empty Glass Bottle to get one. The former can be found in the Brighthaven Vineyard, while the latter can be smelted in a Furnace.

Blood Merlot work exactly like ordinary Blood Potions. Its purpose is to store the blood of a captured enemy for later use. The main difference between these two is that Blood Merlots consume less of a prisoner's blood and cause less Misery after the extraction process. Overall, this is a more efficient consumable than the Blood Potion, simply because you'll end up using less food to keep your prisoners alive.
