About half of V Rising's late game will be trying to get ahold of dark silver Ingots. It's one of the few items that just does not seem to drop in the wild, regardless of where gamers are farming. That means that pro-level players aren't going to be able to kill their way to the top of the tech tree (unless they're on a PvP server, taking down players ahead of them).

Given its rareness, it's a tough break that many endgame upgrades in V Rising require using dark silver ingots. The process is slow and absolutely cannot be begun by new players. But veterans who are ready will want to begin collecting the ingredients to make this precious resource immediately.

Killing Octavian

To kick off the process, gamers will need to wipe out Octavian the Militia Captain. Fewer bosses represent more critical turning points. Not only does taking out Octavian allow players to make dark silver, but it also allows them to make the anvil, dark silver weapons, and Dawnthorne Regalia, the latter two of which become the best gear in the game (after another upgrade).

He can be found in the Bastion of Dunley, inside the large barricade at the northernmost point. It's highly recommended to have every upgrade before dark silver upgrades when facing him, he's no slouch in combat. If playing with friends, enlist their help to split his focus.

Gathering The Ingredients

V Rising Ingredients Needed To Make Dark Silver Ingots

Dark silver is made from combining silver with scourgestones at a furnace. The quantities of all of these will vary from server to server (and the numbers will change yet again based on castle flooring and rooms), but know that farming scourgestone requires mass amounts of grave dust, glass (from quartz), and whetstones.

After that, it's off to the silver mine in the northwest of the Silverlight Hills to gather up lots of silver. There is a nearby waygate to use to go back and forth to the castle (unless silver disables fast travel, this will change depending on server settings).

For those who are struggling, consider building a new castle in the very northwest of the entire map, north of Brighthaven and west of the Sacred Silver Mine. It's one of the best places to build a castle in the game, and this is where almost 100% of the late-game farming will take place.

V Rising is available in Early Access on PC.
