Scrolls are the second tier of research material in V Rising that directly succeeds basic Paper. These items serve as an important stepping stone in the game's tech tree progression, especially once players start occupying land in the Dunley Farmlands.
Just like Paper, Scrolls can be gathered in two different ways. Those who enjoy pushing their V Rising loadouts to the limit have the option to engage in continuous combat. Meanwhile, those who'd prefer to take it easy can always make some at home. Either way, here's a guide on how to get more Scrolls as quickly as possible.
How To Farm Scrolls in V Rising
Scrolls have a relatively good chance of dropping from the Militia fighters occupying the Dunley Farmlands. They can also be found by breaking crates and looting containers like chests and drawers. If you ever get duplicate T2 recipe books while exploring Dunley, you can feed those books to one of your Devourers to get a few extra Scrolls for free.
As far as farming Scrolls go, your best bet is to raid the Militia camps and villages in the southern end of the Dunley region. Kill the humans, break the containers, loot the chests, and you'll easily get dozens of Scrolls per run. Some noteworthy places include:
- Dawnbreak Village
- Dunley Monastery
- Dunley Bastion
- Mosswick Vilage
For a more efficient time farming, raid locations by going clockwise or counter-clockwise from your desired starting point. There's no shortage of POIs in the farmlands, but if you're playing online, you'll need to be wary of other players, especially if you're playing V Rising PvP. Other vampires may also be raiding Dunley's POIs, and if they are, you probably won't have any Scrolls left to gather.
How To Make Scrolls in V Rising
If you want to craft Scrolls within the relative safety of your own castle, you'll first need to beat Maja the Dark Savant. You can find her in the Forbidden Tower on the eastern edge of the Dunley Farmlands. Beating her unlocks the Scroll recipe. However, make sure you've beaten Nicholaus the Fallen in V Rising so you can build Paper Presses.
By combining at most 8 Paper and 4 Course Thread in a Paper Press, you'll get 4 Scrolls in return. For reference, you need 75 Scrolls to unlock a new random recipe from a Study, and you need a total of of 2850 Scrolls in total to unlock every T2 tech recipe.
