The Gloomrot region in V Rising introduced a ton of new content, from enemies to bosses and even crafting materials. The game already has its fair share of resources, and the free expansion added a few more for players to collect.

These new resources include Batteries, which are basically containers of bottled electricity. They are a key ingredient for the crafting of Power Cores, which are then used to make Onyx Tears that are required to repair orange Legendary weapons, one of the new sources of power added in the Secrets of Gloomrot expansion. Getting fully-charged Batteries is a little confusing, though, so here's a guide to help with that.

Updated May 9, 2024 by Marc Santos: The full release of V Rising introduced many significant changes to the game, from the way players progress to the layout of the map. However, charging batteries in the Gloomrot region remains exactly the same as it was before. Players who are already familiar with how this works should have no trouble charging their batteries, but for new players who are unaware, this guide has been updated to provide clearer instructions on what to do and where to go.

How to Charge Depleted Batteries in V Rising

  1. Find 10 Depleted Batteries.
  2. Find and interact with a Lightning Harvester
  3. Click on the Charged Battery button.
  4. Wait until the batteries are charged.

Players may find Depleted Batteries while they're exploring both areas of Gloomrot, though they tend to appear more often in the northern half of the region. Break crates, beat robotic enemies, and open chests to find a few. These aren't terribly hard to find, but expect to spend some time in Gloomrot if you want to get a stockpile of batteries going.

Break tech scrap piles and hunt down automaton enemies like Gattlers and Zappers if you want to quickly gather Depleted Batteries.

Batteries can be charged by interacting with the many Lightning Harvesters scattered around the various points of interest in the region—Thunderstrike Peak is easily the most accessible of these locations, given its proximity to V Rising's many Vampire Waygates.

To charge Depleted Batteries, players simply need to interact with a Lightning Harvester and click on the "Charged Battery" icon that appears on the new window. This process requires 10 Depleted Batteries, and it will always give players 10 Charged Batteries.

Doing this will overload the harvester, making it unusable for a duration. To get more Charged Batteries, players will have to find another Lightning Harvester, which will often be in a separate POI. The cooldown period for each harvester should take no more than one in-game day, so plan accordingly. Four of these machines can be found on Thunderstrike Peak, and once those are used up, players can head to Stormdrain Hills in the far west for more.

It may be a good idea to establish a base somewhere in the center of Northern Gloomrot to act as a staging area since all the enemies here are very lethal, even for players who have good gear equipped.
