Highlights
- Crafting is essential in V Rising for weapons and armor, encouraging exploration for materials to make end-game gear.
- Crossbows offer ranged options in combat, with upgrade paths from basic to epic-tier, each requiring specific materials to craft.
- The Siren's Wail is the legendary crossbow in V Rising, obtained by crafting from the Sanguine Crossbow with unique bonuses.
V Rising made its debut in 2024 as a vampire-themed action role-playing game with some survival mechanics mixed in. Player crafting is a huge part of the game, as all weapons and armor are crafted, not looted. The game map is quite large, and a player will need to explore almost all of it to be able to craft the legendary, end-game gear.
V Rising: Best Bows, Ranked
Bows in V Rising can be easily overlooked if players don't use them in the right scenarios, or if they're using a bow that's too weak for their level.
Crossbows are long-range, high-damage weapons that are slow-firing, which is typical of crossbows in other open-world games with action combat. Much of the combat in V Rising is geared toward melee builds. However, even players who prefer melee combat can benefit from using a crossbow at range to weaken enemies before engaging them in close-quarters combat.
8 Copper Crossbow
Good Basic Bow
Stat | Value |
---|---|
Level | 9 |
Power | 8.5 |
Durability | 1,085 |
Crafting requirements:
- 16 Copper Ingot
- 12 Plank
The Copper Crossbow is a useful but basic ranged weapon that V Rising players can craft for themselves. It is the first crossbow the player can use that isn’t simply a common item. The blueprint can be acquired by killing Rufus the Foreman.
V Rising: Best Pistols, Ranked
Pistols are useful weapons in V Rising, but are not unlocked until around the mid-game stage. Here's all the options players have at their disposal.
The crafting requirements are quite low, and considering this crossbow is used as an ingredient for the next crossbow upgrade, it is well worth crafting as soon as the player can. As long as the player can handle killing the boss that drops the blueprint, of course.
7 Merciless Copper Crossbow
Minor Upgrade Over The Copper Bow
Stats | Value |
---|---|
Level | 12 |
Power | 10.0 |
Durability | 1,292 |
Crafting requirements:
- One Copper Crossbow
- Two Crude Topaz
- Item Whetstone
- 12 Whetstone
- Nine Leather
The Merciless Copper Crossbow can be crafted by the player once they have purchased the blueprint from the Shady Book Dealer for 40 copper coins. The crafting requirements are quite high for what is, in effect, a pretty small upgrade over the Copper Bow.
As this is the last of the copper crossbows, it will not be used as an ingredient for the next bow upgrade. Because of this, the player might like to consider skipping this weapon, and waiting until they can use the Iron Crossbow before they upgrade.
6 Iron Crossbow
A Solid Upgrade Option
Stat | Value |
---|---|
Level | 15 |
Power | 13.8 |
Durability | 1,554 |
Crafting requirements:
- 12 Iron Ingot
- Eight Plank
The Iron Crossbow is an excellent rare weapon that all V Rising players can craft at level 15, provided they have unlocked all the material requirements. If the player skips the Merciless Copper Crossbow, then the Iron Crossbow is their next logical weapon upgrade.
The crafting requirements are very low. However, finding enough iron at level 15 might be tricky, and the player may need to play a little further into the game until iron becomes more common before crafting the Iron Crossbow.
5 Merciless Iron Crossbow
Consider Skipping This Upgrade
Stat | Value |
---|---|
Level | 18 |
Power | 17.3 |
Durability | 1,873 |
Crafting requirements:
- One Iron Crossbow
- One Regular Topaz
- Four Greater Blood Essence
- Four Reinforced Plank
The Merciless Iron Crossbow is arguably the least attractive of all the crossbows in V Rising. There are three reasons for this; the high crafting cost, the fact it is not used in future crossbow upgrades, and because the player will need to pay 64 silver coins to the Rural Book Trader to unlock the blueprint.
V Rising: Best Horse Stats, Ranked
Horses in V Rising have 3 stats, max speed, acceleration, and rotation speed, which impact performance. Here's what their best values are.
The need for four Greater Blood Essence and four Reinforced Planks to craft the Merciless Iron Crossbow is not worth the slight increase in damage over the Iron Crossbow.
4 Dark Silver Crossbow
Every Player WIll Craft This Crossbow
Stat | Value |
---|---|
Level | 23 |
Power | 24.3 |
Durability | 2,545 |
Crafting requirements:
- 12 Dark Silver Ingot
- Eight Reinforced Plank
- One Primal Blood Essence
The Dark Silver Crossbow is a weapon that all V Rising players who use crossbows will want to craft as soon as they can, especially if they skipped crafting the Merciless Iron Crossbow. This is the first of the epic-tier crossbows, and has low crafting costs.
The great thing about this crossbow, is that it is used as an ingredient in crafting the Sanguine Crossbow, which is then used to craft the end-game legendary crossbow The Siren's Wail. Therefore, none of the materials are being wasted.
3 Sanguine Crossbow
Will Take A Player To Level 30
Stat | Value |
---|---|
Level | 26 |
Power | 29.3 |
Durability | 3,307 |
Crafting requirements:
- One Dark Silver Crossbow
- One Flawless Topaz
- One Primal Blood Essence
- 12 Gold Ingot
The Sanguine Crossbow takes the Dark Silver Crossbow as a crafting component for this weapon upgrade, and it is well worth trying to source the rest of the materials to upgrade as soon as possible. Although finding a Primal Blood Essence might be somewhat of a problem at level 26.
V Rising: Best Axes, Ranked
There are multiple tiers of axe weapons in V Rising, and the player will need to upgrade them as they go. Here's how they rank up.
A V Rising player has to purchase the blueprint for the Sanguine Crossbow. The merchant at the Treasure Hunter Trade Post has the blueprint for sale at a cost of 260 Goldsun coins. Because this crossbow is used to upgrade to the final, legendary tier weapon in the class, it is well worth farming materials for.
2 The Siren's Wail
End-Game Legendary Crossbow
Stat | Value |
---|---|
Level | 30 |
Power | 33.7 |
Spell Critical Strike Chance | +15% |
Spell Skill Cooldown Recovery | +10% |
Bonus Spell Power | +4 |
Durability | 3,800 |
Crafting cost:
- One Sanguine Crossbow
- One Siren's Wail Shard
- Four Onyx Tear
The Siren's Wail is the final tier of crossbows that is based on the Dark Sliver Crossbow. This is a legendary crossbow that has additional weapons stats and bonuses. Onyx Tears should be pretty easy to acquire at level 30.
However, unless the player has been lucky enough to loot the correct shard from level 2 rift incursions, they will likely have to do a little farming before they can craft The Siren's Wail. But for players who have come to rely on crossbows in V Rising, it will be well worth putting in the time it takes to be able to craft this excellent weapon.
1 Rare Ancestral Crossbow
Upgrade To Sanguine Crossbow Only Available In Brutal Mode
Stat | Value |
---|---|
Level | 30 |
Power | 33.7 |
Max Health | +44 |
Damage Reduction | 5.6% |
Weapon Skill Cooldown | 6.8% |
Durability | 3,800 |
*Stats can vary depending on RNG.
The very best bow available to players in V Rising is the Rare Ancestral Crossbow, but with a caveat, it comes down to luck whether the player gets a good one or not. This bow is only available to players who are on a brutal mode playthrough. It can have some great stats, although it is arguable whether it is actually better than The Siren's Wail for general gameplay.
The Rare Ancestral Crossbow can only be crafted at the Ancestral Forge, and uses special shattered weapon shards as a component of the upgrade recipe. These shards add 1 of 12 random stats to the outcome of the upgrade, so whether a player gets an excellent, useful weapon or a piece of junk, is entirely down to the RNG role. For this reason alone, many players decide not to follow this upgrade path.
