  • V-Color has launched new DDR5 R-DIMM modules that run at 6800MHz and offer octo-channel support for workstations.
  • The modules are available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB configurations, with the 16GB modules reaching a maximum of 6800MHz.
  • While these modules are not the fastest RAM modules on the market, V-Color itself offers RAM modules clocked at 8200MHz.

V-Color, an established memory manufacturer, has launched new DDR5 R-DIMM modules that run at 6800MHz and come with octo-channel support for workstations. They are available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB configurations with the 16GB modules hitting a maximum of 6800MHz. Notably, these are not the fastest RAM modules currently available in the market as V-Color itself, among other manufacturers, offers RAM modules clocked at 8200MHz. Some of these modules have been overclocked to go even higher.

The Taiwan-based company was established in 2006 and has been producing high-performing memory ever since. Back in April of this year, the company released its Manta XPrism RGB Extreme OC Memory, which ranges from 7200MHz to 8200MHz. The 48GB (24GBx2) DDR5 kit joined the likes of G.Skill and TeamGroup which also released memory modules clocked at 8200MHz. DDR5 memory is capable of supporting significantly higher bandwidth of up to 8400MHz compared to DDR4’s theoretical max of 3600Mhz.

The v-Color XPrism 7200Mhz DDR5 32GB memory comes with a tight CL 36 CAS latency and great looks. This very promising and well-priced memory additionally offers a great XMP profile for clock speeds at up to 7200Mhz (or potentially higher in some cases) thanks to its Hynix A-DIE offerings.

The V-Color Overclocked DDR5-6800MHz R-DIMM (registered dual in-line memory module) comes in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB configurations. They have been designed to work with unlocked Intel Xeon W-2400X and W-3400X series processors that are based on Intel’s W790 chipset. The motherboards must have support for quad-channel and octo-channel memory. They are compatible with XMP 3.0, which makes sure there is a perfect balance between speed and stability.

The company also shared information about the individual modules which it tested with an ASUS Pro WS W790E-SAGE SE motherboard that was housing the Intel Xeon W9-3495X processor. Only the 16GB module is rated for speeds of 6800MHz as tested by V-Color in a 128GB (8x16GB) configuration. However, the 32GB module still managed up to 6400MHz with the 256GB (8x32GB) configuration. For the same capacity with a 4x64GB configuration, the 64GB module went up to 6000MHz.

Price And Availability

V-Color is offering its new memory kits with a minimum of two modules that range from 5600MHz to 6800MHz. The 16GB kit (2X16GB) clocked at 6000MHz is priced at $270 while the 6800MHz kit is priced at $470. The 32GB kit (2x32GB) is priced at $600 and the 64GB kit (2x64GB) costs $800. They are available in 128GB (8x16GB), 256GB (8x32GB), and up to 512GB (8x64GB) configurations.

These new memory modules are not the fastest in the market, as V-Color itself has the 130 Manta XPrism RGB Extreme OC Memory that ranges between 7200MHz and 8200MHz. The DDR5 RAM is offered in a 2x24GB configuration (8200MHz) and costs $500. G.Skill has its Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-8200 48GB (2x24GB) kit currently on sale for $280, a $20 discount from its original price. The TeamGroup T-Force Delta RGB 48GB (2x24GB) 8200MHz RAM is going for $300. Note that in order to make use of the maximum possible speed of the RAM, a compatible motherboard, as well as a compatible CPU, is required.
