Their stories become intertwined for a time, and the duo lands themselves in an alternate dimension where their alternate selves follow in their fathers' footsteps. Early 2024

Star Trek: Discovery was the first Star Trek series to air in 12 years after Enterprise ended in 2005. It made a splash, becoming the most viewed original series on Paramount+. It was also the first series in the franchise to follow an ongoing story that leaned away from the exploration aspect that older shows focused on.

Discovery's setting is a unique one, as it started ten years prior to the original series. Then, at the end of the second season, the crew traveled to the 32nd century. 2024 will see Discovery's fifth and final season and finish Captain Michael Burnham's story nearly 1,000 years in the future from where the series began. Thanks to Star Trek: Discovery, fans got multiple spin-offs, including Strange New Worlds and the upcoming Section 31, which goes into production in 2024.

Star Trek: Prodigy has had a rocky start, with its first season airing on Paramount+ only to get the axe by the season finale. Luckily, showrunners Dan and Kevin Hageman shopped around and managed to convince Netflix to pick up its second season, breathing new life into the series.

Prodigy is an animated series that follows a group of young aliens who discover a derelict Starfleet starship and work together to pilot it around the galaxy in search of a better future. Kate Mulgrew reprises her role as Captain Katherine Janeway, in the form of a hologram advisor. The show takes place only five years after the USS Voyager returned to the Alpha Quadrant, and follows this new group as they follow the same path that the Voyager took to escape the Delta Quadrant.

Expected Release

2024

Star Trek isn't confined to the television screen when it comes to new projects in 2024. Star Trek: Into the Unknown is a strategy board game that puts players in control of some of the most popular starships from the franchise's history. Every ship is built to scale, meaning the larger ships like the Enterprise will tower over smaller starships like the Defiant.

Players choose to either play as Starfleet, or the Dominion's Vorta and Jem'Hadar, and they have to rely on diplomacy and research just as much as combat to progress the game. Decisions matter in Into the Unknown, where choosing to fight the Vorta rather than engage in negotiations can and will have long-lasting effects.

Late 2024

Season two of Strange New Worlds ended on a massive cliffhanger, with the Enterprise fighting the Gorn and Captain Christopher Pike undecided on how to proceed against them. Strange New Worlds has been a breath of fresh air for Star Trek, reminding the fanbase of what made the franchise so great to begin with. The Gorn have gradually increased as a looming threat since season one and might become the primary antagonist, just as Deep Space Nine had the Founders and Voyager had the Borg.

Anson Mount has portrayed Captain Pike brilliantly, and sets himself apart from previous Star Trek captains in a good way. The production window for the new season is between December 2023 and June 2024, setting the season premiere in the latter half of the new year.
