Sony has officially confirmed that Until Dawn will be coming to PS5 and PC later this year. Prior to confirmation at PlayStation’s recent State of Play, rumors about an Until Dawn remaster circulated online. With a film adaptation of Supermassive Games’ smash hit officially in the works, players wondered if the game would be made more accessible to capitalize on the fresh interest the film would generate.

The film adaptation of Until Dawn was confirmed earlier this year, with direction by David F. Sandberg, the filmmaker behind popular horror titles like Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation. The script is written and developed by horror film icons Blair Butler and Gary Dauberman, leaving Until Dawn in experienced hands. As the game itself casts a handful of stars like Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere, many fans are curious to see whether the original actors will revisit these roles or if new stars will embody Until Dawn’s teen protagonists. With so much buzz surrounding the film, many rumors stirred up hope that the game would be made available on more platforms.
