Although the last season of the Dr. Stone anime series finished airing in the spring of 2023, these mysteries have continued to leave fans lost in thought.

5 What Is Soyuz's True Origin?

Initially, Soyuz was revealed to be a member of Ishigami village. However, as Senku and the Kingdom of Science discover the existence of Treasure Island, Soyuz opens up to originally being from there. He also mentions that he tends to have dreams of another village; however, the weather often stops him from sailing out to confirm. On getting to Treasure Island, Soyuz confirms that he is indeed from the island and breaks down in tears of joy.

As the crew uses Soyuz as a guide due to his familiarity with the island, the members left on the Perseus get petrified. This invokes memories in Soyuz as he remembers that the island has a device capable of petrifying living beings. Moreover, after reaching the island, little is known about Soyuz's origin and why he had to leave the island as an infant. With this startling realization, the team set out to uncover the true identity of Why Man and the source of his transmissions. Audiences still don't know whether he wants to see the entirety of humanity petrified, nor the reason behind his actions.

3 What Is The Origin Of The Petrification Device?

Having the entirety of the modern world turn to stone and revert to the Stone Age starts Ishigami Senku's journey in the Dr. Stone anime and manga. After many years, Senku manages to undo the petrification, as he never loses consciousness, even for a thousand years. After getting de-petrified, Senku tries to de-petrify others as he ponders the source of the petrification, which comes in the form of a green light.

In his search for an effective method to de-petrify humanity and find the source of the petrification, Senku reaches Treasure Island. This is where his father stored materials for him, believing he would one day come across them. On Treasure Island, Senku discovers a mystical object that has the ability to petrify living things. Believing that to be the source of the petrification, Senku ponders its origin, wondering if it is man-made or not. As the origin of the petrification device remains one of the unsolved mysteries in the Dr. Stone anime, fans hope this mystery will come undone in the episodes to come.

2 What Is The Extent Of The Petrification Device's Power?

After coming across the petrification device of Treasure Island, Senku and his crew ponder the full extent of the device's power. With Ibara and his underlings using the petrification device, Senku and the Kingdom of Science have discovered that to activate the petrification device, a distance must be stated, followed by a timing. Whether this remains the device's full power is unknown. As the device is central to the petrification of humanity, Senku and his allies will spare no effort in unraveling its secrets.

However, the secrets of the device have not yet been unraveled in the Dr. Stone anime. As he frees other people from the petrification, Senku discovers Ishigami Island, an island filled with living and breathing people. This serves as a source of intrigue as Senku ponders how they escaped the petrification and how the island is named after his last name, Ishigami.

After discovering that the people of Ishigami Island serve as the descendants of his father and crew, who were up in space at the time the world was petrified, the hope for still existing people across the globe became a possibility. Moreover, with the appearance of Soyuz, a boy from outside Ishigami Island, Senku concludes that humans still exist outside Japan. Eventually, he sets out to find them. On finding Treasure Island, the probability of more human settlements existing in various parts of the world becomes a strong possibility. However, whether other villages actually exist remains a mystery yet to be solved.
