The hyper-realistic trailer for the new FPS game Unrecord has been stirring plenty of controversy on social media and the development studio, DRAMA, has responded to many criticisms and concerns in a long post that came out recently. The early gameplay trailer continues its viral streak with nearly 5 million views on YouTube, further propagating the debate around the content of Unrecord.

Unrecord is a new first-person shooter that has taken the internet by storm with its very first look at what's in store. The first gameplay trailer has been out for less than a week and has already generated a remarkable amount of press for the debut title from DRAMA. The realism of the game footage is what immediately strikes the viewer, with its "found-footage"-like style that looks so good it's led to many calling the trailer fake. In response to this, as well as other discussions formulated around the game's story on social media, DRAMA put a lengthy post on the Steam page.

The post primarily addresses the "scam" trailer allegations, the game's depiction of police, and some details about the game's release window and porting. As far as people thinking the game trailer is too good to be true, DRAMA seems flattered but ultimately confident that the trailer's contents are the real deal. The post states that the footage was captured from an executable using a keyboard and mouse and that Unrecordis one of the upcoming games using Unreal Engine 5. DRAMA also wrote, "If Unrecord were a scam, it would be a blockbuster scam. Therefore, it is logically not one."

As far as the police controversy, the word "copaganda" has been thrown around Twitter a lot, and many accuse the game of exploiting real-life issues surrounding police brutality, discrimination, and certain body cam videos that have caused nationwide outrage in the United States. DRAMA is a French video game studio, however, and it seems adamant that people wait for the game to come out before attempting to interpret any political themes or messages the game may hold. DRAMA also specifies that "the game does not engage in any foreign policy and is not inspired by any real-life events."

Unrecord is still in the very early stages of development. The website states that the studio is still actively looking for publishers and investors to support the studio until the game reaches its final stages. DRAMA may wind up in a lot of talks with some of the big industry players in response to the wild excitement the first gameplay trailer has seen. Hopefully, it capitalizes on this early hype to deliver a product that lives up to the expectations set by such an impressive first look, in an industry where many hyped games disappoint players.

Unrecord is currently in early development and has no set release date.
