What is Rapport in Unicorn Overlord?
Rapport is basically the level of relationship between the various characters in Prince Alain's army. Each character can have three major rapport milestones that can be hit in relation to others, and depending on various factors, this can either take a longer time or be quick to hit.
The stronger the rapport, the better it will be for these units when they team up in a squad. Strong rapport bestows stat bonuses that can help make a strong character even more powerful, and help weaker ones cover some of their weaknesses in this tactical RPG. The rapport conversations also give more context and help with character development as well. In any case, it is always advisable to build a strong rapport between your units in Unicorn Overlord.
How to Build Rapport Fast in Unicorn Overlord
There are a couple of ways to generate rapport in the game. Units who fight together get a small boost after every encounter, stationed guards can be given gifts for varying boosts, and there are specific overworld interactions that can add to the process. Lastly, characters can have meals at taverns to boost their rapport as well.
Combat is a key part of the experience, so this will be the most straightforward way to build rapport. However, small increments will require a high number of battles to see their effect. The same goes for overworld activities. Instead, players should focus on gift giving and having meals at taverns.
Throughout the game, players will definitely obtain gifts that are otherwise useless, so be sure to gift them to the characters you want to get closer to whenever possible. Having meals is by far the best way to build rapport fast. For just a small sum, different meals can provide medium to high boosts to rapport among groups of characters at once, saving you plenty of time in the process. As an example, a Honey-Apple Tarte Tatin only costs 660 Gold, but can boost rapport by a hefty 110 for two characters.
This can be repeated for any many times as possible, requiring only the cost of the meal or using a Free Meal Ticket. But first, a tavern must be located.
Where to Find Taverns in Unicorn Overlord
The first major tavern that players will likely encounter can be found in the Walled City of Barbatimo in the starting region. Taverns also appear in major cities or citadels, so be sure to check out the menus and get started on improving your rapport whenever the chance arises in Vanillaware's latest game.
