A large part of the appeal of games-as-a-subscription services like PS Now is giving players access to games that aren't normally available anymore. Games from the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 days are hard to come by nowadays, and PS Now makes some of these titles finally available on modern systems.

While the PlayStation 4 is still supported by Sony (and still wildly popular with the lack of PlayStation 5's available) paying full price for games on an old system isn't a great deal. PS Now subscribers can get access to a number of PlayStation 4 titles to try out without committing to one, while also offering additional discounts for full purchases.

8 Shadow of the Colossus Remaster

When Shadow of the Colossus was remastered for the PlayStation 4 fans of the iconic Playstation 2 title were worried it wouldn't translate over to a new generation. If anything, the remaster made the game more widely-known while keeping everything but visuals intact from the original game – and it's available on PS Now as well.

It's a game well worth playing for its enthralling sense of adventure and its boss-oriented progression design. You won't be fumbling around any dungeons in this game, instead, players find their way to their next target and spend just as long taking them down before moving onto the next.

7 Fallout 4

The Fallout series has had some duds over the years, and most fans of the series agree that Fallout 4 pales in comparison to earlier titles. Despite the lack of decent dialogue options, Fallout 4 is actually just as fun to play as the earlier games but with a much prettier aesthetic.

While Fallout 3 takes place in a ruined D.C. and Fallout: New Vegas takes place in the Mojave Desert, Fallout 4 takes place in Boston, which makes for a much more varied, urban backdrop. If you had a fun time with the earlier titles, Fallout 4 is well worth trying.

6 Injustice 2

The Injustice fighting game series has been praised for its no-holds-barred take on the DC Superhero roster, as well as its incorporation of Mortal Kombat-like mechanics in a traditional comic book world. Injustice 2 improves on just about every aspect of the original and turns the concept into a pretty decent fighting game.

While DC fans have criticized the sequel for its lack of a decent plot in the singleplayer mode, the combat is nevertheless satisfying and diverse enough to save it. Steer away from the story and opt for one-on-ones for the optimal Injustice 2 experience.

5 Bloodborne

The From Software game Bloodborne is a spiritual successor to the wildly popular Dark Souls games, putting its own Lovecraftian spin on the mechanics and story. It's a notably tough game with a genuinely horrifying aesthetic, but it's also one of the most rewarding games to beat.

Fans of the Dark Souls series and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice should absolutely give Bloodborne a chance. Many From Software fans say it's their best game – one thing is true, at least: it's their most uniquely scary game yet.

4 DiRt 4

DiRT 4 is an off-road racing game that puts the player behind the wheel of a souped-up rally car in races that test the player's reaction timing and control of their vehicle. It's not exactly NASCAR 2003, where players just go in circles on a concrete racetrack. DiRT 4 is much dirtier and mechanically complex.

While DiRT 5 was released in 2020, it's not yet available on PS Now. However, for more rally car action, PS Now also has DiRT: Rally. The games might not be the prettiest nowadays, but there's a reason the franchise has lasted so long.

3 The Elder Scrolls Online

The Elder Scrolls Online is, contrary to popular belief, a great Elder Scrolls experience that's tuned to MMO-type gameplay. It lets players explore nearly all of Tamriel rather than just one continent, and its gigantic list of DLC released throughout the years means there's a story for every Elder Scrolls fan to experience.

It works on a pay-once model, where the game is free-to-play upon buying the base edition. While combat is much different than the mainline Elder Scrolls games, the lore, gameplay, and sense of exploration is unmatched in modern console MMOs.

2 Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is described by some as the most real-to-life fantasy RPG to ever be released. It takes place at the height of the Medieval Era and directly derives its world from Czech middle ages designs and history.

The gameplay is pretty real-to-life too, with locations just as far and difficult to travel to as they are in reality. It's well worth checking out for its in-depth RPG systems as well as its surprisingly compelling story following Henry, a son of a blacksmith destined for greatness.

1 Ghostrunner

ghostrunner

The neo-futuristic platformer Ghostrunner slipped under a lot of gamer's radars upon release. It's a game that emphasizes quick movements and careful planning in a ninja-like environment, where every move matters while taking out enemies with very, very good aim.

The sound design of Ghostrunner is a particular highlight, and its fast-paced movement-based gameplay is as intuitive as it is challenging.
