Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection brings Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy into a single package, with both games improved for the PS5. Recently, the collection received a stunning PC port, giving gamers a new way to experience Nathan Drake's adventures. All this attention on the franchise should spark hope for fans, as it suggests that Naughty Dog isn't ready to bury the franchise just yet.

Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy benefit greatly from the PC port, as it allows for even more enhancements. Naughty Dog isn't done with the PC market just yet, as The Last of Us Part 1 also has a PC port on the way. This could pave the way for other games from the studio to make their way to the platform, including Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.

The Uncharted series revolutionized gaming through its emphasis on cinematic, Indiana Jones-style action sequences that have become iconic gaming moments. The first three Uncharted games were good reasons to purchase a PS3, and the franchise also performed well when it jumped to PS Vita. Naughty Dog allowed more gamers to experience Nathan Drake's crazy adventures when the first three Uncharted games were ported to PS4 in 2015 via the Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection.

Thanks to Naughty Dog's focus on The Last of Us, it has seemed like the studio moved on from the franchise. Though Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy were commercially successful, it has been a while since gamers have seen a mainstream title from the franchise. However, Uncharted has recently been receiving renewed attention which has been landing well with the public and could pave the way for more games.

In 2022, Uncharted received a film adaptation starring Tom Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Sully. The film was a success, becoming the fifth-highest-grossing video game movie of all time. Fans will likely see much of the series on the big screen. Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy were also ported to PS5 in 2022. The Legacy of Thieves Collection brings a lot of welcome improvements to the games, including 60 FPS gameplay and enhanced graphical fidelity.

Recently, the Legacy of Thieves Collection jumped to PC where it has been very well received. It currently sits with a critic score of 88 and a user score of 9/10 on Metacritic, which indicates quite a positive reception. This was a smart move for Sony and Naughty Dog, as it exposed the franchise to more gamers than ever. However, one cannot help but wonder whether this isn't preparation for something bigger. Perhaps Uncharted's gaming life isn't over, and it may still have a rich future ahead.

Is Naughty Dog Still Working on Uncharted?

Shocked Nathan Drake

Naughty Dog has given no word on whether a new Uncharted game is on the way, and it appears that the studio is currently focused on the long-awaited The Last of Us standalone multiplayer game. However, fans shouldn't give up hope just yet, as the studio is large and capable of working on multiple projects. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that a studio recruiter made a post mentioning that she is "building future teams for not only new titles but for the legacy of Uncharted." While the statement is very vague, some have interpreted is a clue that Naughty Dog may not be done with the series just yet.

Although Uncharted 4 appeared to bring Nathan Drake's story to a close, there are several directions Uncharted 5 could go. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy seems to be setting up the possibility of Chloe Frazer or Nadine taking the lead in a new Uncharted game. They would be worthy successors to Drake, as they have proven themselves to be adventurous and ruthless with their weapons when necessary. Even if gamers don't get a new game in the series, Naughty Dog will definitely use everything they've learned on other projects. If gamers are lucky, this could result in the Nathan Drake Collection making its way to PC one day, though the studio has noted that the games would require "a major overhaul visually to stand up to modern PC releases."

Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy Are Worth Revisiting

With millions of copies sold, many gamers have probably already played these phenomenal titles. Nevertheless, it is worth experiencing them once again on PC, especially because there are a few extra perks, including a re-imagined UI, scale sliders, GPU and VRAM detection, and Variable Load Speed. It is also a way to bring newcomers into the series. Though Uncharted 4 is filled with moments that are slower than your average Uncharted game, its high moments are truly exhilarating, and gamers will be on the edge of their seats during Nate's adventures in Madagascar. The Lost Legacy also veers away from the average game in the series by not starring Drake, although its semi-open world design is utilized expertly. It has Nadine and Chloe adventuring in India as they search for the legendary Tusk of Ganesh. Along the way, they run into Asav and his men, though Chloe and Nadine don't back down from a challenge. Despite being the shortest entry in the series, it's also the most action-packed.

Naughty Dog has a busy schedule ahead, and fans can look forward to The Last of Us Par 1's PC port, The Last of Us multiplayer, as well as a television adaptation of the zombie franchise. Although the studio has its attention on Ellie and Joel, it seems they have not forgotten about Nathan Drake and his friends. This is a good thing, as the franchise is capable of churning out plenty more exhilarating gaming experiences.
