Two months after it premiered in theaters, Sony Pictures is celebrating the digital release of Uncharted. There’s a lot of new content for the film’s fans to explore, as the studio has released some behind the scenes footage, exclusive interviews with the cast and crew, and even deleted scenes to mark the occasion. While a lot more content is promised on the digital copies, fans can get a taste of what to expect by simply visiting the studio’s social media channels.

The promotions for Uncharted's digital release began with a featurette titled “Finding Nathan Drake,” and Sony Pictures then went on to share multiple videos on their various social media accounts, including YouTube and Twitter. Upon its release, Uncharted received mixed reviews from critics regarding the script’s originality. However, despite that, Uncharted is one of the highest grossing films of 2022 so far. With the film now available digitally, the studio pulled out the big promotional guns.

In the first featurette, the interviewees tackle questions about why Tom Holland was the best choice for the Uncharted movie and what he brought to the table as a fan of the games. Director Ruben Fleischer reveals that Holland has played every game and “knows them backwards and forward.” “He had a level of commitment to the character and the franchise that even exceeded my own,” he is heard saying. Nolan North, the voice actor for Drake in the games, believes that Holland has the “same enthusiasm as an actor that Nathan Drake has as an adventurer.”

The second promotional video is a look at the behind-the-scenes journey of Holland on the sets of Uncharted. The fun video takes fans through an entire day of work from hair and makeup, the stunts and stunt doubles, Holland’s accent in the film, the costumes, all the way to the filming. The four-minute video is the perfect snapshot of the amount of work, and people, required to bring the films that fans love so much to life.

Another featurette released by Sony Pictures offers a look at how the film’s idea came to be. Holland revealed that he was working on Spider-Man: Homecoming when he decided to play Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. However, “it wasn’t until two years later that the idea of doing an origin story for Nathan Drake came up.” Finally, a deleted scene from the film was also revealed, which features actors Rudy Pankow and Tiernan Jones, who play young Sam and Nathan Drake in the film. The two are seen exploring a museum, a scene that is reminiscent of the interaction between the two characters in Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.

Uncharted is now available on digital and will arrive on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on May 10, 2022.
