8 Jab-Straight-Jab-Straight

PlayStation Input: Square, Triangle, Square, Triangle

XBOX Input: X, A, X, A

A staple combination and one that every new UFC player should know, this simple Jab and Straight combo is a simple set of attacks that can be surprisingly effective. Since the moves are basic, they can be let off with great speed, catching opponents before they can land one of their own hits and staggering them back.

This combination can also be followed up by a leg kick on either side, making it highly versatile and one that can quickly be customized by a player to suit their own style.

7 Jab-Right Hook-Left Uppercut-Straight

PlayStation Input: Square, L1 + Triangle, Square + Cross, Triangle

XBOX Input: X, LB + Y, X + A, Y

This combination is extremely versatile, being useful in both offensive and defensive situations. To do this, players must start with a Jab, followed by a Right Hook, then a Left Uppercut, then finish off with a Straight.

This combination performed quickly enough can be devastating to players as it gives four headshots with the Hook and Uppercut doing most of the damage. Not even the strongest characters from martial arts games would be able to take the damage this combination delivers.

6 Lead Uppercut-Uppercut-Lead Hook

PlayStation Input: Cross + Square, Circle + Triangle, L1 + Square

XBOX Input: A + X, B + Y, LB + X

This Lead Uppercut, Uppercut, and Lead Hook combination can be great at dealing damage to an opponent and warning them to back off. It's a great one to use when an opponent just won't stop coming at the player, and they want to regain some distance to re-evaluate their game plan.

All of these strikes do headshot damage, meaning opponents won't want to take too many of these hits. Since all hits are a bit more advanced than a simple Jab or Straight, their damage output is nothing to be laughed at. Fans of Mortal Kombat and similar games will be surprised not to hear "Fatality" when they manage to land this combination on an opponent.

5 Lead Body Hook-Body Hook-Lead Body Hook

PlayStation Input: L2 + L1 + Square, L2 + L1 + Triangle, L2 + L1 + Square

XBOX Input: LT + LB + X, LT + LB + Y, LT + LB + X

This hook combination can deal serious damage to an opponent's body if utilized correctly and can be great at ensuring a player is dealing enough damage if they are finding their headshot attacks are being blocked consistently. Its damage can rival even the secret moves used by pros.

The speed of this can make it difficult for opponents to block correctly and also means that the player can have slightly more time to reevaluate if the combo ends up being blocked. In which case reverting to headshots before quickly utilizing this triple-hook combination again can be a great way to land some damage.

4 Lead Body Uppercut-Hook-Lead Hook

PlayStation Input: L2 + Cross + Square, L1 + Triangle, L1 + Square

XBOX Input: LT + X + A, LB + Y, LB + X

This combination combines body and headshots to keep opponents guessing while hitting them with a flurry of power moves such as uppercuts and hooks. If not blocked, the opponent will take a lot of damage that can absolutely change how a fight is going.

This combination could be seen as a little more technical than others and will likely take a player a few tries to be able to use effectively. However, it is absolutely worth it and will get players started in UFC 4 to be able to stand a chance of winning against people online.

3 Body Straight-Lead Hook-Straight

ufc4-roundhouse-kick

PlayStation Input: L2 + Triangle, L1 + Square, Triangle

XBOX Input: LT + Y, LB + X, Y

This combination is not as technical as some of the other UFC 4 punching combinations out there but it is still viable to use offline or online. While some things are missing from UFC 4, variations in striking choices are not. This combination combines body and head damage, with a Lead Hook in the middle to do a lot of damage to the opponent if they fail to block it. Because of the speed of basic moves such as straights, players can use this combination while also getting out of harm's way if it looks like the opponent is managing to block them.

There's no worry of over-committing with this combination, but the damage output it does more than makes up for any dangers of getting too close.

2 Lead Hook-Rear Body Hook-Lead Hook

UFC 4 Octagon Cutscenes

PlayStation Input: L1 + Square, L2 + L1 + Triangle, L1 + Square

XBOX Input: LB + X, LT + LB + Y, LB + X

The Lead Hook, Rear Body Hook, and back to the Lead Hook is a short combination and yet does devastating damage to players. When executed with good timing, this combination is effective and difficult to avoid, making it a highly offensive move.

Due to hooks having a shorter range than other punches, players will need to make sure they use this combination primarily when in up-close-and-personal trades with their opponents.

1 Lead Uppercut-Straight-Lead Hook-Rear Uppercut

UFC 4 Poirier v Gaejue

PlayStation Input: Square + Cross, Triangle, L1 + Square, Triangle + Circle

XBOX Input: X + A, Y, LB + X, Y + B

This deadly combination will leave opponents stunned every time a player pulls it off. Uppercuts and hooks deal massive amounts of damage even when landing by themselves.

By mixing the two punches together and using a straight in the middle, players will find themselves far more confident on the offense.

UFC 4 is available on Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
