  • Assassin's Creed: Codename Red is rumored to debut in 2024, but Ubisoft has yet to confirm its release date.

Ubisoft continues to stand as one of the biggest developers and publishers in the gaming industry, with longstanding successful franchises like Assassin's Creed continuing to fuel its success. Although criticized for its open-world model, Ubisoft remains committed to delivering experiences unlike those of its competition, in terms of captivating visuals, massive size, and engaging gameplay.

2023 wasn't the best year for Ubisoft in terms of releases. One of its most anticipated games, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, garnered average reviews, with most critics likening it to Far Cry and chiding its all-too-familiar Ubisoft open-world formula. On the other hand, its "return to roots" Assassin's Creed title, Assassin's Creed Mirage, performed a little better, as it not only brought once-departed fans back to the franchise but was also host to one of the best and most dynamic game worlds in recent memory. Now, the developer hopes to prove its willingness to evolve and adapt in 2024 with several highly anticipated releases.

Every Ubisoft Game Confirmed for 2024

Ubisoft has an exciting lineup of games confirmed for a 2024 release, including Prince of Persia's first new major installment in 13 years and the first open-world Star Wars game ever made. It's likely to be a big year for Ubisoft fans, as some of the developer's most anticipated titles are hitting the shelves and digital storefronts.

Here is a list of every Ubisoft game confirmed for 2024, along with their expected release date:

  • Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (January 18)
  • Skull and Bones (February 16)
  • Invincible: Guarding the Globe (February)
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Mobile (March)
  • Tom Clancy's The Division Resurgence (Early 2024)
  • Star Wars Outlaws (TBD)

While many of these upcoming titles still don't have a specific release date, they have all nevertheless been confirmed. Star Wars Outlaws is perhaps Ubisoft's most anticipated 2024 title, though it is merely being published by Ubisoft as Massive Entertainment has spearheaded the game's development. There are several other Ubisoft titles rumored for a 2024 release, including its free-to-play first-person shooter XDefiant, which has been delayed indefinitely by the developer. Assassin's Creed: Codename Red is also among the list of Ubisoft games rumored for a 2024 release, but the developer has yet to confirm.

3 Big Cameos That Would Make Sense in Star Wars Outlaws

Set between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, there are plenty of options for cameos in Star Wars Outlaws, but only a few make real sense.

Star Wars Outlaws Is the First Open-World Star Wars Game

Somehow, despite many successful releases, the Star Wars franchise has yet to have its own open-world video game. Both of Respawn's Star Wars Jedi titles have given players plenty of sizable areas to explore, but neither of them can be considered an open-world game. In 2024, Ubisoft aims to not only release the first open-world Star Wars game but also what is arguably its most ambitious game yet, as Star Wars Outlaws will extend Ubisoft's traditional grounded open world into the far reaches of space in the Star Wars universe.

Because protagonist Kay Vess is an outlaw on the run, Ubisoft's open-world model fits her adventure perfectly. Massive Entertainment has emphasized the opportunities that Outlaws will give players to explore massive planets, including known planets such as Tatooine, on their speeder and then board their ship, the Trailblazer, to take the adventure to space. The highly anticipated third-person action-adventure game will feature elements of stealth, a notoriety system, upgradable weapons and abilities, ground and space exploration, space dogfights, and player freedom of choice. Star Wars Outlaws is undoubtedly one of the titles to watch in 2024.

Skull and Bones Continues to Leave Fans and Critics Skeptical

Ubisoft's upcoming action-adventure title Skull and Bones has unfortunately had one of the roughest game development cycles in recent memory. Development for the game began with one vision back in 2013 and has since shifted into something entirely different from what it was before. Since originally being planned for a 2018 release, it has been delayed multiple times but is finally aiming comfortably at a February 16, 2024 release.

Skull and Bones' long development hell has justifiably led to many fans and critics being persistently skeptical of the game, but news of what is apparently its lackluster gameplay has surfaced, revealing that early Skull and Bones testers quit out of "sheer boredom." At the same time, publications such as IGN have had good things to say about the pirate adventure's story and gameplay, especially after recent updates were made to the game. Despite the troubled waters Skull and Bones has had to navigate, it could very well sail on to surprise the gaming community.

Assassin's Creed: Codename Red Is Rumored to Make a 2024 Debut

Assassin's Creed Red

Assassin's Creed: Codename Red has been a long time coming — not necessarily the game itself, but the desire and request of many fans to play an Assassin's Creed game based in Japan. Now that it's officially happening, longtime followers of the franchise can't wait to get their hands on it. However, despite claims that AC: Codename Red will be released in 2024, that much has yet to be confirmed by Ubisoft, so fans may have to wait a bit longer.

Rumors of AC: Codename Red's release date began circulating after a LinkedIn post made in mid-2023 by Ubisoft staffer Arisa Lagunzad stated that the developer was on the lookout for a partner in Japan to help work on "the biggest blockbuster of 2024." However, "2024" was removed from the description shortly thereafter, which could mean that either the projected release date for the project changed or Ubisoft simply didn't want the public to know that specific information. Either way, Assassin's Creed: Codename Red will happen eventually; the only question is when.

Where Is Assassin's Creed Infinity?

assassin's creed infinity protagonists

Assassin's Creed Infinity is a brand-new approach to the Assassin's Creed franchise. Ubisoft claims it will act as a "hub," which is reported to contain multiple settings from the Assassin's Creed series with room to add more in the future. Its true purpose will shine in Ubisoft's ability to forego releasing multiple games and, instead, simply add them to the Assassin's Creed Infinity platform. It's bound to be a unique experience for fans of the franchise, but not many details have been disclosed thus far.

Ubisoft confirmed in 2022 that Assassin's Creed Infinity, its new Assassin's Creed "hub," would be made available around the same time as Assassin's Creed: Codename Red, which many have expected will at least receive a progress update in 2024. However, with the release date for AC: Codename Red still up in the air, it's likely AC: Infinity is in the same boat. While this may be disappointing news for excited fans, its release is most likely closer than it seems, as Ubisoft has already announced the inevitable release of three AC: Codename titles.

Ubisoft is certainly not holding back in 2024, which is clearly seen in the imminent releases of anticipated games such as Star Wars Outlaws and Skull and Bones. While several other anxiously awaited titles are only rumored to be released sometime in 2024, gamers should expect a wide variety of experiences throughout the year.
